I've tried doing a Google search and am none the wiser.

Is it a YTX 12 or YTX 14 battery I need for my R1200GSA 2008

Thanks in advance :thumb

someone replied on facebook "Get Lithium"

I would advise against it If you want to use your bike in cold weather which we have an abundance of here The cold cranking amps get affected

You may only get one good go at getting started

Get a Motobatt or a Yuasa or brand leader

If I recall its a YTX 14 that you need not a 12

And if the bike is going to sit for a while then disconnect the negative and leave it that way (and also a full fuel tank! stops fuel "going off" )

Thanks Jay, picked up a YTX 14 today:thumby:

Went through battery drama myself yesterday, the usual haven't started for a whilst and committed to meet up for a spin type drama. Bike is 08 GS with BMW branded AGM so could well be the original.

Replaced with Yuasa YTX 14 BS AGM from Halfords for €70 with discount.

The owner book for mine recommends 14 AH battery, the YTX 14 is a 12 AH and is the one that Halfords recommend. The Halfords Yuasa YTX 16 is a 14 AH battery but dimension is 16mm wider and didn't have in stock anyway.

You could have got a Mottobat for less than that ;)

Here you go.
eBay item number:164819060203

Doesn't ship to Ireland, never mind.

Are the Motobatt the class leader or that much better than a Yuasa for example?

I did try the BMW parts dept to see how much OE would cost but they didn't pick up.
