New here / back here / been here before... I sold my trusty and much loved super sorted monkey piss yellow 1150 GS early last year on a bit of a whim, Cris at Motorworks is a customer of my Laverda business and during a visit he tempted me with a K1300S at a price I could not resist. I ran the K13 around for a while but could never quite work out exactly what it was for, helluva bike, mad mad fast and very surefooted but we were going to get each other into big trouble, that monster power is very corrupting.... So I sold it to a nice chap from Norway who flew over and rode it home. I bought a really nice low mileage R1200S with the proceeds thinking that it might be a bit more me, I wanted to like it I tried really hard to like it but it handled funny, stable as a rock when heeled over but was weirdly reluctant to turn in, damn thing put me right across the road a couple of times on bends I know, shame as it was plenty fast and looked brilliant. I Ebayed that one away and bought an R1200R because I had a sneaking suspicion it might be more what I was looking for, and.. bull’s-eye! It has got to be the best bike I have ever owned, good down home honest old fashioned (but modern) MOTORCYCLE, not a lifestyle accessory, no pretensions of being retro or bad ass or anything else. It is plenty fast, handles sublimely with no vices I have found so far, nice and comfy, excellent brakes and excellent manners whilst on the brakes. Fitted a nice titanium Remus powercone so it even sounds good and fruity...At last I have found a worthy successor to my old GS as the modern bike in the fleet. Just itching for some nicer weather now so I can get out and carve a few of my favourite Scottish roads up. :)

i love my K1200S - but as you say, it is a sneaky beast and more than once i find myself waaaay above the limit. Only 3 points in 3 years but how I don't know..

The new (to me) 1150 GSA is much slower, and safer :)

Glad you've found what you want .... :)

Welcome Keith,

The R1200R is a great bike, I believe - does most things.

Your R1200s? I'm going to hazard that the problem with turn-in etc was not the bike - but caused by a "triangular -profile" front tyre.

There could be plenty of tread left, no squaring off - but if you take a straght edge accross each side of the tyre - you may have noticed that it was a rather "flat" profile on each side of centre.

The R1200s is a cracking bike (I've only test-ridden one, mind) - but it was significantly quicker than my BoxerCup.
