I know - it's a bit off thread - but if anyone's going to know around here - it's the usual suspects... (Besides, haven't found a good site for the R1200R yet that has as much experience as UKGSer...)

Under the seat of my '07 R1200R, at the back of the bike, there are three electrical connections.

One for the Alarm, one for the Diagnostics, and one other - that looks like (and is described in the Haynes manual) as a bulb holder (but without a bulb in it).

I can find no other mention of this on the web or in the manuals...

What is it?
Any clues?

It is probably there for fitting some option to the bike during build, maybe something for the overseas market that UK bikes don't have ??

there's that carbon filter thing for the septics is that it? on the HP2 it's even got a cut out thingy big enough to hold a coke can...

my bike has that, I did wonder about that for age but then stopped....

it's fine now...:thumb2

I get the drift - it's not important - but I can't help wondering why there is an unused lampholder under the seat.
An unused connector - I could understand - I seem to remember one on the 1150GS - I think I traced it to sidelights - but a lampholder on a really short length of wire - odd???
It's even referenced in the haynes manual - but nothing more.

Thanks for the link to Boxertrix - definitely more like it - more tech than whinge!
