Guys,

I will be changing the pads on my 2012 model over the next few weeks, I will need to replace front and rear, are OEM pads the best option?.

Chris...

Non oem £50. Oem £100. Ferodo and EBC will be just as good as Oem. You pays your money ...

I reckon I get more out of EBC's than OEM but that's not really the point. I'm looking for good braking not longevity.

If you must fit OE just buy Brembo pads. The OE pads are the same but come in an expensive BMW branded box!

I have never found OEM Pads available anywhere other than a BMW Dealer. If you can advise who supplies the "same" OEM pads please let us know.

How would you do that ?.
I have no doubt that if you brought them to Florida, used them in a crime, left a sample at the crime scene............... Horatio Caine would have the friction material identified before the first ad break.

To be honest, it isnt that important...

I have EBC with absolutely no problems. I used OEM organic pads in the back brake which were down to the metal and ruined the disc in under 4000 miles and chewed the brand new disc. Thats really great economy. I now have EBC sintered in the back.

BMW don't make brake pads (any more than they make batteries, switch-gear & gear-boxes etc etc.) Certain specialists go to the OE manufacturer direct, & buy the same product in a different pack. Like buying a BMW battery, or a similar Varta from your local battery specialist. Try Motorworks & Moto-Bins for a start.

Fully understand what you are saying there Martyn and indeed I have tried all of the "Specialist" BMW Parts people out there. But as I said before, if anyone knows who can supply the "same" OEM Pads other than BMW Dealers please let us know.
