hi
I have a 2014 R1200RT LC with heated seats for driver and pillion.

how effective should these be please?

I switched them on when playing around with the settings for a couple of minutes and did not notice them to become very hot.

is this normal?
where there any issues with these seats?

thank you.

I have a heated seat on my 2012 RT. Turn it on to hottest setting. wait 15 minutes, hot, hot , hot. then set to low setting.
PS, its a shame you can't have it on a GS.

You can, you can get it recovered and place under that covering a snowmobile heated seat

You're not alone with seat heating issues. I've had problems since day 1. Initially neither seats got more than barely warm to the touch. One of the seats (i don't recall which) was replaced by the dealer, but he also did a software fix. Now the rider's seat works fine most of the time, regulating the heat by the wonder wheel, and yet other times it simply goes nuclear hot regardless of the setting. Only thing then is to shut down and restart. Obviously it'll be an issue at the next service.

hello GWJ, so if i start the bike up and put the seat heating to maximum, after how much time i should feel the seat heating up please?
the dealer just updated my software but i do not know if it was related to the seat heating function or not.

thank you

My Bike has been back for this issue twice the first time they told me it was working fine, and on the way home could not even feel it second time was with a software update at full on you can now just feel it. I had a twi cam RT before this one and it was great full on to warm up and then medium to a toasty bum at the moment there is no comparison!

The seat should provide enough heat on 'maximum' for you to want to turn it down a degree, so you'll be in no doubt when it's working correctly. That said, I believe you need to be seated on the bike, and stay seated. to get the effect. If you aren't on the bike, much of the heat dissipates into the atmosphere. From memory I guess a few minutes is enough. 5 minutes is plenty. If you are unsure if it's working correctly or not, then trust me, it isn't.
