For Sale is my R1200RT LE, first registered March 2017 and bought by me in July 2019 with 3100 miles on the clock. It has now done just shy of 24,000 miles. I'm the 2nd owner.
I'm selling because the creeping advance of arthritis means I struggle to ride it long distances or for long periods of time, which lets face it, is exactly what it was designed for.

Being the LE it is fully loaded with more tech than I ever use, including (but not limited to):
Electronic suspension, engine modes, ABS, trip computer, alarm, tyre pressure sensors, cruise control, quickshifter, heated grips, heated seats, keyless ignition, central locking of the panniers, fairing cubby holes and fuel cap, so no more fumbling for the key at the filling station. It comes with both keys, i.e. the remote control and the little "wallet" key.

In addition to the standard equipment, it has the larger BMW top box (also central locking and incorporating an additional brake light), the audio pack (FM radio, bluetooth and memory stick inputs), satnav prep in the dashboard and engine crash bars.
It's also Datatagged for security.

I bought it from Birmingham Harley Davidson, who serviced it on purchase, since then it has had an annual service at Sytner Wolverhampton Motorrad, the last one being a couple of weeks ago, on 10th April.
MOT'd at the end of March, expires 28/3/26.

Tyres are Metzelers and have done less than 1,000 miles.
New rear TPMS sensor 3 weeks ago.
Drive shaft replaced under the extended warranty scheme last year.

Condition-wise, its very nice, there are some blemishes commensurate with it's mileage. The tops of the pannier lids are scuffed but they have a protective film so its that that's marked, not the paint. The silencer has a small dent from when I took it off to lube the flappy valve (something I've done every year), put it on a stool for "safekeeping" and it rolled off.
In my ownership it's never seen a salty wintry road, thats what the old GS is for!

It may a bit of a cliche but this bike wants for nothing but a full tank of fuel and you could be paddling in the Mediterranean in a couple of days time.

Asking price... dealers seem to be asking £7.5-£8.5k for this bike, so
£6500 ono. Any questions, PM me or call 07757756116.
Sorry about the photo's, they are of the bike out and about, I will take some better ones ASAP when my current attack of arthritis subsides and I can get it out of the garage

Nice bike, GLWS.

What might you buy to replace it ?
I'm intending to use the GS for a couple of months, I seem to get by OK on that with the rheumatics. Then I might look at a cruiser style bike, feet forward and no weight on the wrists could be the way to go.

Very nice, why is it that these bikes always come up at the wrong time for me. Currently in Spain for next 5 weeks.

These are really good bikes , I bought one new in 2017 and did about 35,000 trouble free miles - Handle well , quick if needed , comfortable , and very economical .... not sure I had any complaints at all. Replaced with a Goldwing DCT ... which is simply different - not really better or worse in any respect (apart maybe from torque level .... )

Thanks for the PM's (all responded to) asking about more photo's.
I should be able to get these sorted and on here over the weekend.

But weight on your back possibly. Have a good LONG test ride. They look comfortable but compared to an RT or 1290 Adv type possibly not. I got a Thunderbird 1700 years ago. Loved the short test ride. Hated owning it because of the total lack of pillion comfort and having to keep all that chrome clean. Got back ache after an hour or so. Not not for me.

Heard the same from a Neighbour, same bike Thunderbird and gave the same result on a foreign tour. He was in agony with his back and hips. All of your weight is at the same spot with no chance of moving or flexing around.

Sound advice, thank you Apex and Stonehenge. Funnily enough, its the TBird that has caught my eye. But having never owned or been interested in a cruiser, then a good long test ride was always going to be sought. A GS of similar vintage to the RT would always be top of the wish list, hence the plan to solely use my older GS for a while and see how things pan out aches and pains wise.

And the final batch, I've tried to be as open as possible about the bad bits as well as highlighting the many positives about this bike. If any potential buyers want a specific area photographing, please PM me. Bike can viewed in the DY3 postcode area, I'm very flexible time-wise at the moment having given up the daily 9x5 grind recently.

100% I did love the noise though. For a trip to the pub.....
