R1250 aftermarket headers

As the title says
can any one tell me if aftermarket headers make any difference other than being flashy bling ?

Who knows don’t think anyone has done it AFAIK. Probably need a map update for fuelling but to date i don’t think its been done to a 1250.

A friend of mine did it to remove the cat. He hasn’t mentioned any performance difference. He’s not getting errors but is concerned about euro 5 updates down the line.

Thanks for the info Roger. I wasnt aware of anyone having done it to a 1250, so i stand corrected. Im going to wait and see what happens in the following few months and then decide what to do, if anything.

I have a full system with decat headers and removable baffles. The performance is exhilarating but also with better economy when required. Best LC of the three I have had. Mind you it is also a basic but has 17” wheels, sports rubber and TTX Ohlins shocks and has been to see Geoff.

How much run out have you got at the rear or did you change the swing arm as heard a few differing opinions , any pics.
Oh was it a bought conversion or the adaption of wheels.

It’s a standard swing arm with an RT rear alloy with 180/55 Michelin Power RS. It’s hard for me to comment on the offset as the wheels were fitted before I got it and the dealer bought the original wheels. The rear tyre did foul the standard exhaust when they tried it, but the Remus was fitted before delivery and has clearance.

I have included a pic from the bike to show how much it sticks out from the splash guard. Can’t say I notice any adverse reaction to the slight offset however the handling with sports rubber on 17” wheels and the Ohlins is addictive. Virtually no chicken strips. I’ve had a Multi and a 990 SMT and the handling is every bit as good. I wanted a GS Supermoto and that’s exactly what I have got. Couldn’t be happier.

Nice , what was the conversion.:thumb:thumb and do the pegs touch down as it makes we wonder..

Pegs don’t touch down as the dealer raised the front ride height by an inch with the preload adjustment to compensate for the smaller front wheel which is also from an RT, and keep the stance the same as standard.

I had all the rear subframe, rear subframe cover, grab handles, rack & rear footrest hangers painted to match the white. The rocker covers, bash plate & silver plate on side of fairing, powder coated satin black, with wheels done in high gloss black. Seat has been resculptured and had an air pad fitted.

Looks like you have the bike set up a treat.....Enjoy.

Have the dyno run chart to show ..:hide:hide

1250 Rallye

That looks great. Removal of the pillion handles, and a sport screen, would be the icing on the cake.

Could you lower the front mudguard, as it’s sitting very high?

Yes the mudguard has been done. The photo was done just after I took delivery of the bike.

Just wondering if anyone else has got round to fitting decat headers to a 1250?
if so what brand and any feedback

I was wondering the same. What I'm more worried about is engine management lights coming up if there's no cat, or if you definitely have to get the ECU flashed to stop it being an issue?
