Hello - i'm new to this forum and looking for some help as I'm close to making a purchase on a new R1250 GSA. I'm interested to know whether anyone has taken the HP Exhaust option when purchasing their new bike. I can only find limited reviews/youtube videos of people equipped with the HP exhaust which leads me to thinking that very few people actually go for this option, must be for some good reason other than cost.

I have a 2010 GSA with Akrapovic exhaust so to me its a no brainer adding the HP exhaust to my new bike; slightly concerned however that its a waste of money if it offers no significant weight saving or acoustic upgrades! The dealer tells me its fantastic (as he would) but couldn't explain why no one seems to order it.

Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations before i spend the extra money on it?

Thanks

Phil.

Hi Phil,
I really don’t like the shape of the new Akra HP and as you’ve mentioned, you don’t get much for the £800 bill.
I bought an used Euro3 Akra which sounds great on the 1250 for less than halve the new price.
It looks better (IMO), does the same job and you’ll have £400 in your pocket.

In the link below are photos of the Euro3 Akra on my 1250GSA.

Thanks for the feedback and photos, the older can certainly does look better. I'm being offered the new HP exhaust at half price effectively so I'm inclined to go for it but just concerned it will sound worse than the stock exhaust. I might see if the dealership can offer me an older Euro 3/4 can as opposed to this new Euro 5 2019 HP version.

Go for the new can , sell it , buy a Euro 3 , winner:thumby::thumby:

go for it - the new shape looks awesome!

you could always sell it on if you don't like it, but i suspect when you see it fitted you will like it

I believe that if you specify the akrapovic end can as part of a new bike build you save on the cost of buying one after the fact from a dealer, but you are not given the original oem can. The original can is useful for reinstatement when the bike is sold to allow the akrapovic to be transferred or sold separately.

When i ordered my new gs rallye 67 plate with the akra my dealer gave me the standard can also !

I went for the HP exhaust option but finding words to justify that decision is not easy. It’s quite loud, louder than I remember from my test ride, has an addictive burble on the overrun and looks great (in my humble opinion anyway).
You pays your money.......

Great advice...just the (gentle) push i was looking for to commit to the HP exhaust!! And yes, if i dont like it I can always sell it!

Thanks guys.
