Thinking about a 2018/19 R1250gs with iether 4000+ of 7000+ miles, Currently have a Multistrada 1260 Enduro but it's too tall for me, So are there any regular issues with the LC gs's? What should I look out for? I had a 1200GSA back in 2008 and seem to remember people always seemed to posting about various issues. Also, what are the must have options? (I will be getting a TE spec bike) Want to go in 'both eyes open' this time.

Cheers

'both eyes open'

The lot in here very much blinkered.

Issues, nah, it is the best bike ever. Somebody will soon be along to confirm it.

Ok, TE. that is all.
To tall, look for a short suspension GS. It is a no cost option.
Wash it regularly, otherwise it turns to dust before your open eyes.
Brake callipers leaking. Only fit for Harleys and bicycles.
TFT connectivity issues. Software issue.
Worn tyres. Make sure to have a new set ready to fit.

There is an endless list of non issues bod on here have with their best bike ever. Buy the thing. Ride it and enjoy it. Sell it and buy something else.

Seriously, a Multi for a GS?

Global sales are approx 175,000 with 60,000 uk sales - cant be too much wrong with them ?

I have a 2019 R1250GS TE Exclusive, without a shadow of a doubt one, if not the best bike I have ever owned, it just does everything one wants.

Issues? Some late 2019/early2020 models were fitted with a duff battery, which BMW will replace under warranty if it fails. Brake calipers are fine, some have had leaks and in the US the calipers were replaced as part of a recall), but not in the UK (unless a leak was found, which was only on a few (AFAIK) - mine have been fine since new and the brakes are just brilliant with plenty of control. Some connectivity issues, just make sure you get the latest software update. That aside, it's a pretty solid machine and difficult to fault.

Must have options? TFT security bracket, front screen supports, Front fenda extender, Mudsling on rear, crash bars and/or head protectors and depending on your height you may want to fit a taller screen and/or a deflector. I'm 5' 10" and have an MRA deflector on my screen wgich works fine for me, some fit the GSA screen (bit wider) or a PUIG screen which is a bit taller. I've also fitted a Cool Cover to my seat which makes it a lot more comfortable.

Mine is a June 2019 R1250GS Exclusive. I've owned it since new and it is now approaching 19k miles. I've had two faults - the exhaust flappy valve (headers replaced under warranty) and a small amount of corrosion on the swing-arm/final drive (all replaced under warranty). No issues with TFT or brake callipers.

My bike is fitted with the comfort seat option and this, together with the Wunderlich up-and-back bar risers and an MRA vario screen make it a great bike for long days.

From new my bike was fitted with Anakee Adventure tyres. I replaced them at 7,500 with Continental Trail Attack 3's and IMO it made a worthwhile improvement.

Two friends have recently bought Triumph Tiger 900s and did so after only one test ride.

One had had several GSAs and the other a GS followed by two Multistradas so they must be very good.

Neither have had any issues or concerns and love them.

Worth having a test ride?

2019 Sep. 1250 standard bike, only options heated grips and cruise. Mileage only 2000, no issues or corrosion:D The bike should be still in warranty (transferable to new owner) so any issues sorted out with any dealer.

I'd have bought a Tiger 900 if it wasn't for the bloody awful engine vibration

I agree - I test rode one before buying my R1250GS (I previously had a Tiger 1200), new 900 is a lovely bike to ride but the vibration from that engine - no way I could have lived with that

The 1200 tiger will probably be appearing soon, with a down tuned version of the speed triple nutter RS motor at a guess, that could be good :)

No issues but you will have a hard time finding a 2018 R1250GS...;)
Only difference is regular GS,regular with sports-suspension or ADV with has the sports-suspension.20 mm longer and slightly shocks with stiffer springs and 5 mm less trail which gives you a slight advantage for fast road riding for obvious reasons...Otherwise 19/20 were EU-4 bikes...21 are EU-5 that have LED blinkers and corner headlight and ECO mode that gives you roughly the same power and torque of a 2004 R1200GS...Spoke wheels are sturdier if you go off road...Cast wheels roughly 3 pounds lighter...Aluminum bags slightly bigger and top loaders than the vario cases....That's about it.
