R1250RS delays

It finally made it today. A big shout out to Steve Guest at Cotswold Motorrad for all his help and to Tony James for his efforts in getting the bike protected with his PPF so quickly after it got to the dealers. The photo doesn't do it justice, it really does look a nice piece of kit (IMO of course ;) )

Very nice indeed! Are you planning on fitting a Mudsling/crudcatcher combo? Really helps keeping the muck at bay.

I know, I nearly had one but SWMBO put the stoppers on that as she refused to go on the pillion. Now she's sold her kit I'm a bit late to the party but that's the best I could do I'm afraid :D

one hopes you have also negotiated passes for trips away by yourself or with some mates.

I have a small mountain of stuff to fit to it :D I have the Wunderlict extreme front engine cover, a mudsling and X Heads for protection. I also have a NN front fender extender which I may/may not fit depending on how good a job the engine guard does, frame bungs and a FD protector thingy. Electrickery wise I have the hex ezecan, aux lights additiknal horn and bike cam to fit too. I also intend to put some Lanoguard (I think you recommended it?) on the front and bottom of the engine/box and remove the rear wheel to coat the rear disc mount and the bolts on the FD with XCP clear. Should keep me busy for a few days

Mine is pretty much similarly spec'd to what you plan although I haven't yet fitted the ezecan. I found the front engine protector was fgood enough without needing the fender extender tbh. I have the Xhead protectors but after lifting a mate's RS he dropped which was fitted with crash bars and seeing he got away with no damage to the bike at all (not so sure the Xheads would offer anything like the same protection) I may well now fit the crash bars. Yep, Lanoguard is one of the more effective protections. I've been riding all through the year and haven't yet had to reapply Lanoguard on the underside of the engine casings...a thin film stubbornly exists still despite repeated jet washes, unlike the ACF which I've had to repeat each 3 or 4 washes (admittedly with a bike cleaning foam used each wash).

I've never been a fan of ACF50, I used it on my 1st GS and it just attracted the crap probably because I put too much on. It's not designed for out in the open automotive protection but for inside aircraft. There's better stuff out there IMO but each to their own

a good crust of Cotswold quarry slime keeps rust at bay. Especially the stuff from the aptly named Oathill Quarry near Temple Guiting

I have some Cotswold stone chippings on what was our front lawn for some extra parking space so I'll ride over it and see what happens :D

One pleasant surprise was it's only cost me an extra £19 in insurance (plus the admin) to change from a March 2020 1250GS TE to my spanker RS so no trouser dropping insurance shafting for me :banana
