Its not , I am yet to break it .....but I am trying very hard to ...the 1250 Ultimate gave up at 3000 miles , I'm at 2500 on the 1300 ... tic tic tic tic ....Boom . But I doubt it as its a great motor and chassis.

It isn't or I for one, would've bought one. It's a harsher ride, less comfortable and the panniers are wank. Not as good as a 1250 for touring, in my opinion.
Thats fine , but I own one and think your wrong as its fantastic . I would never go back to the old 1250 as its had its day.
The suspension is better ( and adjustable --- did you even get that far or the time to try or even had the willingness to experiment )
I find it , at 6ft , with bad knees , back neck and damaged left hand very comfortable and equal to the 1250.
The whole package is street ahead of Old Faithful lol
Panniers yes , but went for aluminium , so thats just choice.
I feel it will be as good as the old one for touring but with the added fact of extra fun thrown in.
All this IMHO of course as an owner , 2500 miles later and also one that does not have to justify the cost , as If I had not liked it I would have found another bike that ticked the boxes , this one did and still keeps finding more.

Some people tour two up.
My wife sat on the back of the 1300 and said the pillion pad felt horrid compared to the 1250.
Plus I think the 1250 platform provides more wind protection and cosseting if two up.
I've only done 500miles inc a 180 mile run to the coast and back,my wife said it was just as comfy as the 1250 I guess it depends on how big your pillion is.

So do I as well as solo , wife so far finds its fine , as good as the 1250 , but better than the V4s . Wind protection is better for me and she thinks similar but said felt the same as the 1250.
She said the seat is smaller but no less comfortable , but she is size 8 to 10 so .... after a 300 mile ride she was fine , no less than the 1250. She did mention how smooth mannered the bike was. The Top Box and panniers felt as they did , but she loved it.
Still cant get her away from the old TC as that was her favorite , but we travelled 25 k on that one and had some fantastic times , but she is daft like that.
Looking forward the next few years on her , unless I blow it up.

I wanted one, I am a fanboy. I went to BMW with the express intention of riding it for a day and buying the Trumantada version that day. I was massively disappointed. It didn't feel different enough to warrant the change. It was a harsh ride and felt small.
So it's faster? Big deal. It corners better? So what? The 1250 is plenty fast enough (for me at least) as a sports tourer and I don't go out on my GS to win races. If you want to tour at mind-boggling speed and incredible handling, then why buy a GS? Surely a Panigale or an S1000RR with a rucksack on your back is the tool for the job? Or an S1000XR - faster than a GS.
Do whatever you want though Stick. I am glad you like your bike, at least for now. I will wait 6 months for you to buy something new and then you can tell us all how it was crap with hindsight.

Never thought the 1250 was crap , just dated. . Too many injuries now for sports bikes

A S1000XR is fast but a 4 cyl bike so lacking character.
Most people say the 1300 screen is far superior, so comfort is improved if your neck isnt getting a workout on the motorway. The bars are the same the legroom might be a tiny bit less /maybe not.
It is clearly evolution not revolution but the fact is some people just don't like change, and some people also like to moan about bmw.

Well , decided to trade the 1300 in as it has 2 wheels .. bought a unicycle ... One wheel is enough

Something like an MT10 with the cross plane engine has character by the bucket load .
Especially if you’re Stick!But the 1300 can do Warp 13 so much quicker than warp 9
No one has ever come past me on the 1250. I would be surprised if he could on his 1300.
I feel not . I ride with a chap on the MT 10 , he is fast young and a track day rider , but .... its a one trick pony again as is the XR . He struggles against the all day riding we do on technical roads , fast on the big A roads ( ZZZZZ) but bouncing like a crack whore on a £10 tip . He admits it , its not about the power , the figures , just about the bike on real roads , real time.
He is 33 , me 59 , he still can keep up even with all that power , . Now get him on the A40 ..............................................................................................................................BUXZZZZZZZZZZZZ
