Thats fine , but I own one and think your wrong as its fantastic . I would never go back to the old 1250 as its had its day.
The suspension is better ( and adjustable --- did you even get that far or the time to try or even had the willingness to experiment )
I find it , at 6ft , with bad knees , back neck and damaged left hand very comfortable and equal to the 1250.
The whole package is street ahead of Old Faithful lol
Panniers yes , but went for aluminium , so thats just choice.
I feel it will be as good as the old one for touring but with the added fact of extra fun thrown in.
All this IMHO of course as an owner , 2500 miles later and also one that does not have to justify the cost , as If I had not liked it I would have found another bike that ticked the boxes , this one did and still keeps finding more.
I have notices many knock it but thats fine , at least you don't own a Yamaha
