I've run into a recurring issue with the R1300GS radar cruise control (ACC) and was wonder if anyone else has run into the same problem.

If I have ACC engaged in 3rd/4th gear it will invariably disengage just below 5K rpm and a red car icon will briefly display on the dash. The same happens in 5th gear but just below 6K rpm.

The manual states this icon is displayed when: ACC switched off for system-related reason, or system-related deactivation is imminent

There is no vehicle in front of the bike and it happens regardless of the road conditions.

Quite odd and annoying

Those are very unusual ranges to be running any cruise control, and the ACC maxes out at 160 kmh (100 mph), which is exactly 6krpm in 5th gear. You seem to be using it at it's maximum limits.

What speed do you have it set to when it disengages ?. It will disengage if the engine can't safely pull the set speed in the currently selected gear.

Do you think the riding assistant package which includes the radar cruise is a must have on the new 1300 bikes?

Depends where you’re going to use the bike but definitely not a must have

I didn’t spec it on mine because I hate adaptive cruise on cars so on bikes I think I’d hate it even more, on uncongested roads or motorways it’s a pain in the arse

I do have and use the standard cruise control which I like

This applies however for my usage and where I live and where I ride

If I used the M25 every day for example I’d think adaptive cruise was fantastic

I have just completed a 3000 mile trip to the Alps and Dolomites and used ACC a lot on motorways etc. It allows you to rest your right arm, if needed, but worked very well in traffic. It's not a must-have but very nice to have imop.

I typically used it in 6th gear so must have been doing a minimum speed....cant remember what speed officer.
