Hi all
New here (Brief intro in new members section)
Can i ask about possible options here
Just bought a 2024 R1300GS TE (Triple black)
The indicators at the front are in the handguards (no enduro pack) and i was a bit surprised (horrified even) when i realised it wouldnt go in the side entrance of the house to get to the rear shed its kept in.
Also have a crf1100 adventure sports so i had hoped id have no issues.
I would just remove the hand guards if they were the only issue.
But id have to relocate the indicators to the enduro position on the body
Because it has the front radar ,the usual enduro location is covered up and theres a trim piece that would also need to be bought and fitted .
Is there a handguard option out there that does not splay outwards away from the bar end weights ,that comes with indicators that wont cause canbus issues?

I have adjusted the hinging of the gate today to gain a bit more width but its still not enough i think
Its not just a gate post i can manoeuvre the bars around at one tight location....the majority of the side passage is quite tight fyi.
Thanks in advance

Imagine if you bought the GSA. You need an aircraft hanger for those.

Indicators are not on the can network although they are monitored for faults. You could get some flush LED replacements and it shouldn't cause any faults if the draw was the same.

Narrower bars or, get the angle grinder out! Probably got switch gear locating pegs with small holes in the bars but, they can be re-drilled.

Barkbusters do a version of hand guards and a kit with indicators built in. But they'll probably be a similar width. I don't think it's the guards that splay out so much as the the bars are angled inwards causing guards to be wider at the front.

Denali T3 pods are flush mount so could be mounted elsewhere such as on a light bar or something. You could also probably use the BMW Emblem LED indicator kit like A Bike Ting do.

The enduro radar cover is only about £50 and easy to fit. Obviously you have to buy the indicators and remove the hand guards.

If it was me, I'd be tempted to remove the hand guards before wheeling it down the side passage. It's not such a big job. Just 4 screws.

I know it was probably said in jest above, but cutting the bars down wouldn't really really an option, they are a different thickness further in from the grips.

Thanks and Thanks to all (Even the jesters)
Ah i will sort out something
I took it home on the test ride and realised it was tight/touching
I said at the time "ah ill just rehinge the gate or make some sort of adjustment"
That will probably be all i need, even if still tight.
Just thought id ask the question as my very first thought was to just remove the hand guards /buy indicators for the enduro position
Then i noted the plastic cover around the radar was different........and i just lost interest

Im sure ill be fine
Thanks

before worrying about the indicators check out how you'll cope with the engine width - its much wider than older GS bikes

How much of a run is there before the side of your house? If you could get a bit of speed up you should be able to widen the gap. Remember the old saying If at first you don’t succeed try try try again. JJH

And what is the side passage made of?
i presume one side is your house, whats the other... can it be modified to make more room?

I wouldn't rule out the bar chop, I wasn't jesting, do some research but, I've read of others taking 25mm off each end on 1250's with no issues of switch gear refitting, can't imagine the 1300 being much different, obviously needs investigating before taking the hacksaw to it!

Do away with the standard bars and put on some clip ons.

I had similar aggro and replaced the gate with a big wide one. I have just had a conservatory built and now need to get the patio redesigning as I have little space to turn and will drop it.

I did the same with wing lol

width across the bars 940 mm (y) The Gs is 980 result

Got it home and it scraped the gate posts WTF

Width accross the mirrors 1050mm !!!!

Cue 30 minutes with a disc cutter and a new gate :D:D

It may be worth seeing if the handle bars from an r1300r are narrower and fit your gs.
Did the same on the 1250GS, fitted the bars from the 1250R Sport( the 1250R standard bars are different shape) around £250 new or £100 on eBay. Narrower by 1" on each side. I can only assume that is the case with the 1300. Or just go to a dealer and measure the width, what I did. The end of bars have a thread, cutting doesn't sounds clever.
Or take the handguards off and indicate with your arms :D
