R1300GSA Sidestand

Another update for those struggling with sidestand on the 1300 GSA adaptive suspension models.

I have just changed the sidestand for the standard suspension version part number
C46.53.1.638.149.

This is sidestand is 5cm longer than the one fitted to the adaptive suspension model, and has made centering the bike so much easier. A night and day difference when fully loaded.

It will also take a standard side stand enlarger foot, I used sw motech, just make sure you fit the rubber buffer screw to the sidestand
To avoid catching it on the centrestand when retracted.

The torque settings are.
Sidestand to frame : 28nm
Sidestand switch to sidestand screw :4nm

How much did the new stand cost if you don't mind me asking?

I hope it never falls over when the ground is a bit off whack or you have lots of weight in the luggage

to think on this point BMW just got it wrong is ludicrous - I'm the first to point out real foibles, but all this is just....

Found a guy who 3D prints the insert.

Tempted to source the lot myself into a kit of parts and sell them on here. £1.86 x 2 for a the AliE enlargers, 3D print a few custom inserts to go in between top and middle & middle and bottom (say 30mm total height added), 4 longer bolts & captive nylon nuts & voila ! A side stand enlarger sandwich. £5 in bits. Anyone would pay £15/£20 for one. Hmmmm !

if you think this is a long way or a bit heavy can I suggest you get the biggest shock of your life and try to get a BMW K1300GT of its side stand - then you'd have a right to make a remark about things

to give you an idea its about 150 times harder than the GS1300 which is like playing with a feather

I was , last week , told , by my dealer , that the reason that these side stands are so short , is to stop the bike blowing over in strong winds .
I haven’t stopped laughing .

I didn’t know what all the fuss is about- it’s no problem at all.

Just installed one of Miguel's Bigfoot on my R1300 GSA and must say it works a treat.
Got it quite quickly too, he estimated 20 days but I got it in around a week.
Superb quality and very easy to install.
