I have recently moved fron a 1250GSA TE to a 1300GSA TE ASA.
On, the 1250, I had a tracker and no alarm, no other accessories. The charger, connected by the accessory socket, would fully charge the bike and go to sleep.
On the 1300, connected via the accessory socket, the charger sits for an age at 98/99% and 300mA. Eventually it gets to 100%, says fully charged, with a current of 0A, however the charger doesn't seem to go to sleep. No tracker, alarm or other accessories connected. Navigator 6, is not on the bike.
* on delivery, the bike reported critical battery level, but still started and battery has charged as per above since.

Is anyone seeing the same problem with the BMW charger plus?

Can't help other than to ask what type of battery is on your 1300. If it's a lithium one could that be the issue?

What number did it get to on the charger ? It can sit for a max of 30 hours at number 7 . Mine sat there for around that and then went to standby . I have a lithium battery on a R1300 GS

It's the black, square BMW Motorrad Charger plus with the dot matrix display
Battery is AGM, and charger is in default lead acid mode. I'd upload an image, but don't seem to be able to do so...

Doesn't it have a specific "AGM" mode ?.
I have the same charger but lithium battery in my 1300gs, I just leave it on and sometimes when I look at it it's in "sleep" mode but it does take maybe a day from first connecting it before going to sleep.

Yes, it's covered by the lead acid mode.
Everytime I have looked at it, the lcd display has been lit up, eventually, with the "full" LED illuminated
On the 1250, it didn't take long to go to sleep when charging was complete.
I've been away for for a couple of days, so maybe it will have sorted itself out when I get back. Gut feel is it won't have (it's on a power monitoring plug and I can see remotely it has been pulling about 11w since midday).

Just wondering if the 1250 was sending something on the canbus that the 1300 is not...

Same bike as you, same charger, same battery. Like you said, my previous 1250 used to charge faster. Mine seems to be charging for 16 hours, sleep for 25 hours, then start all over again, same pattern.

I also had the low voltage message, I think the automatic height adjustment pump combined with all the other stuff on these bikes use a lot of power. Being winter the battery is more stressed as well.

Same bike, same charger, no issues whatsoever. I have the lithium battery fitted though and the charger is in lithium mode.

Just did a Google search and there should be a specific mode for AGM. (AGM & wet lead acid have different float charge rates etc.). I haven't checked if it's correct myself as I use the lithium setting.

This is the info from Google search :--
"select the appropriate mode via the MENU button for AGM batteries to ensure correct voltage/current for these sealed, maintenance-free types"

Yep, that's mode 1 - the mode it is in.
The manual says:
"Mode 1: Lead acid, lead gel, AGM and lead calcium batteries"
So covered by that mode.
(Mode 2 is Lithium iron phosphate batteries)

Ok, so after a few days being left alone, it has finally gone into sleep/float mode...
So it is doing what it is supposed to be doing, just took a while to get there.

I have a 1300GSA (with a tracker) and I use the specific BMW Optimate via the DIN for my AGM battery. I have noticed it reads as 2/3 charge after a ride when I first connect the charger, and takes a while (24hrs or so) to read as charged after initial connection. It goes through a sort of test/repeat cycle every so often, which is a concern when I see those lights on the charger. However, after reading the instructions it appears this is quite “normal” - I wonder if your device is similar? My instructions also say that charging via the DIN is not always ideal if the static draw on the battery is over a certain amount (I suspect mine is borderline with the tracker)….. it advises to charge/connect direct to the battery, I am going to switch to this and see if I can get it performing better.
