having had 2xr1100gs and 1xr1150gs im looking at buying a r 60/6 or a r80 or similar just not sure what to avoid or what to go for any suggestions. the more i look at the old bm`s the more i like.
A good question to ask a seller. They need a conversion. By now most will have had that done, but a low mileage / low useage bike might still be running the old unleaded friendly seats.thanks guy`s are they ok running on unleaded

just been told the bike im after hasn't had the heads done and the current owner uses lead replacement every other tank full. any suggestions![]()
but what would be the right price for what seems to be a good clean well serviced 1974 original R60/6
R60/6 usually have serious pinking problems. There's a special base gasket available to lower compression.
Is that an issue with the /5's as well? Particularly the R75/5, since there's one being sold round here (with a 1974 5 speed gearbox that I presume is from a /6 - is a bitza best avoided?)
Thanks...
The 5-speed gearbox is a "good thing" IMO, & if it's an early one ( without ribbed casing ) it won't even show. Personally, I'd like the 5-speed 'box. The 75/5's that I've owned & ridden always ran well, but they are getting old now, so the quality of maintenance over the years may have been excellent - or poor. As always, ask questions, look at any paperwork & make your mind up on condition.
