Hiya Hairheads,
First of all a massive THANKS to Thunder, John Armstrong, Voyager, Bill-H for their help a few weeks ago... The ignition switch and warning light panel is back on the bike and working.
I am back for some more though...
My battery keeps on going flat. it's only a few weeks old but it already need recharging. I was told that it might be a broken wire somewhere. I wil buy a new main wiring loom anyway. But could it be anything esle? The starter relay is new. Could it be a defective starter motor? No signs of broken wire after inspection but it's quiet hard to get deep in the wiring loom.
Cheers
Vince

Battery going flat = it's not being charged or there's a discharge.

Are you sure the battery is being charged? What volts is the battery getting at about 2000 rpm?

Tried disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting it with a DVM in series (amps) to see if there is a discharge?

I've found ...

... this fault finding chart very good in the past :thumb2

Check the diode board

had this problem with my R75/6. Took to disconnecting the battery overnight and found that the battery wasn't discharging. One of the diode had gone open circuit and the battery was discharging through the start solenoid to earth. The solenoid cooked and fused the windings.
No further problems after I replaced the diode board and solenoid.
