Hi first time here in the airhead department!
I've just been offered by one of the dealers I visit a 1981 R80/7 with spoked wheels, 41,000 decent condition and runs like a Swiss watch. It's got none standard paint but this doesn't bother me, he says I can have it for about £900 ish. What I would like to know is this a good price or about what they fetch?:nenau

Very Good price if its has good as he says. Spoke wheels may, but not always, indicate it's an ex police bike.

Don't expect to be making a wedge on it though. The 800's aren't a particularly desirable bike and there are bound to be some issues for you to sort out. If you don't know anything about them it could be a nightmare for you.

If recent posts are anything to go by the lads in here are too bust shooting each other down in flames to bother actually helping somebody so don't expect much support on here.

If he is a "dealer" he will probably have done some homework tooooooo
I am in Chezzer and if yer want I will/may be able to go look at it with yer (if yer pick me up etc)
Mick

Thanks for your swift replies and offers etc.
I'm a sales manager and sell parts and accessories to the motorcycle trade so the offer of the bike will be a bit of a favour from the dealer who says I can have it at what it stands him at, he just needs to check what he gave for it as a p/x

What I fancy doing with it is a bit of a special street scrambler with no lights etc just run it on a day time mot.

If its a R80/7 you want, you could have my rusty, leaky old pile of shit for about twice that much. Whatcha reckon? :thumb2

Buy it and join the airhead gang.

(Not sure if this exists, but I'm sure it would be great if it did) :beerjug:

Another one on the top of the slippery slope :blast I am halfway through building my 'special' (currently known as the "White Elephant") and loving every frustrating moment of it :D Buy it and have a play, sounds like you are in the right industry to access some well priced bling :thumb

Noticed this too, but there's enough generous and amusing good blokes involved to keep me coming back :thumb2

Looks like you guys have just spent a few hundred quid for me.
When I get a firm price I'll pick the old shagger up post a few 'before pics' :drool

Ps don't be too nice it doesn't suit you !!

Well I have one, got it cheap and said I would just run it as it was, wrong, at the moment there is just the front wheel standing on the bike ramp every thing else is in a box, why o frigin why do we do it?

luvinit really

The R80/7 is one of the sweetest airheads and if it's in as good condition as you say, that's a very good price. One thing I would suggest is that you don't bugger it up by going the (yawn) bobber/street fighter/cafe racer route. This is often the best way to completely devalue a decent bike. Just see the number of near worthless 'projects' on eBay given up through lack of funds or interest. I've an R100/7, a lovely old thing in metallic blue, and that's the way she'll stay. More or less standard, although she does have a period Craven top box :-)
