After four years of living out doors my Varta sealed battery has finaly given up, it will no longer hold a charge for more than a couple of days, and will not crank the motor in the cold mornings.

But what shall I replace it with, an Odyssey PC680, or another Varta? they both cost the same, but which is better?

Ive just replaced my old Varta for an Odyssey. The Odyssey gets really good reviews, and so far so good. The winter is the real test ! The connections are slightly different. I had to 'reverse' the earth lead to get a smooth cable run, but no hassle really

Its much smaller, which means i have space for a nifty case which will hold all my spare bulbs (when I get around to buying the bulbs)

There is a good comparison test out there somewhere on the currently available batteries.

The Motobatt performed very well, with huge storage power as well as decent cold cranking amps, and in Oz they are less than half the price of the Odessey.

My local dealer now stocks nothing else, claims the are the first battery he has had no warranty claims with.

But note that the BMW specific 591?? battery is around 5mm bigger all round than some and is a tight fit, particularly if you have a after market shock.
