R80 G/S vs R100GS Engine block, gearbox difference?

Dear all,

Can anybody tell me ( apart from cubic capacity) the difference between a 1995 R100 engine & gear box compared to a R80G/S one of 1981.

Did they mod things in the engine/gearbox in the years inbetween?

My R80G/S seems to run smoother than the R100GS( which is still good)

Why is it R10GS's are make more running noise?

The R80 will always be smoother than an R100 due to less centrifugal mass in the running engine.

i.e. = bigger heavier pistons being chucked around

They shouldn't be any noisier. Maybe a slightly deeper exhaust note a little more induction noise. I'd take a 1000 over the 800 every time.
