Have a very clean original 1991 R80 GS Para and the rear shock is leaking.
Anyone got advice on a good replacement?
A standard unit with adjustable damping would be fine.
Can they be had at reasonable cost? Where from?

Taking bike to USA next month so help on a solution would be appreciated :beerjug:

too much choice?

you can choose from Ohlins, Wilbers, Technoflex, Hagon or the OEM from BMW. THe orginal lasted 40,000 km on my R80, and I reason that another should do the same. The Ohlins, Wilbers and Technoflex were more expensive and the Hagon was rated as cheap. The BMW was available almost ex-stock, whereas the Wilbers was built to your specifications.
If I was using my bike a lot, I would have bought the Wilbers.

replaced my standard shock with a secondhand maxton (from a mate of colt on this board :thumb2:beerjug::clap) very nice ride just need to sort the front end out now:rolleyes:. what about waiting and getting one from the states while you are there, find it on the net and pick it up when you get there could save a few bob :thumb Bm
