I cannot reconcile the central location of wheel between forks with the central location of disc within calliper.

My calliper is bolted direct to the fork and if the disc sits central between calliper halves then my wheel is offset to the left (clutch lever side) fork leg.

If my calliper sat a few mm (2mm to 5mm at a guess) off the fork then everything would make sense.

The picture above suggests that part '10' Part no: 34 32 1 242 308 description 'RING - 5' sits between calliper and fork.

What's the wisdom? Cheers!:beer jug:

Yep. I had to space mine out - used a stainless washer on both bolts.

Cheers! :beer jug:

That'll do for me then. I'll set the wheel central under the head bearings then make temporary wheel and calliper spacers with washers until some kindly stainless steel or aluminium bar turner emerges, lathe in hand, from the undergrowth.

On my G/S the end of the bolt contacts the disk if you omit the spacers, so it is obvious you have left something out------.
Mine just has a couple of washes, but it has an oversized disk and an adapter for the OEM caliper and I had assumed it was the adapter which was made wrong.

As mine has the wheel further left, (because I didn't have wheel spacers so chose some from my 'garage stock' to place the disc in the middle of calliper) I guess the bolt-end to disc dimension was OK.

The offset wheel was most noticeable when I fitted the newly powder-coated fork brace, and the tyre-to-brace gap was far wider on the disc side than the other.

The low milage (104 miles) G/S resto on the MaxBMW website shows spacers so I guess that proves they were used from new.
