R80GS 1981

barny...not cheap mate.. I was quoted £190 a wheel to rebuild with SS spokes, on top of that I had the hubs vapour blasted and the rims polished.

Recon about £450:eek:

...some small progress .... rear sub-frame fitted and forks changed and plonked the front wheel and mudguard in.... I know its nothing compared to what you guys do ... but for me its PROGRESS:aidan

In my defence aside from my lack of aptitude I'm trying to put a bike together i never dismantled and have no previous knowledge of the mark ... bit frustrating but luckily I've got you lot to refer too:bow

...sloth progress

... well I am as slow as a slow thing.. but hey who cares:aidan

Woz uncomfortable with the lovely new engine sitting with no oil for too long .... wanted to get it 'oiled' but no electrics/clocks

Plonked the old starter on... earthed the engine cases with my fat battery and got power to it ...all good..BUT no oil light to go out so temp wired in my multimeter and spun her over till the voltage disapeared:thumb2

...some small progress...

As I trickle forward i keep finding bits missing... being that I never knew what was supposed to be there in the first place as i never dismantled it and it was a pile of burnt rusty bits:D

....any wat Motorworks is gettin a good trade out of me ... never stop being surprised at how much the smallest bit costs! ... just as well i'm not looking to make a profit on it:aidan

Looks great so far (apart from the yellow fork lowers)

Keep it up, you’ll get there.
