R80ST

Way back in 80s when I had one of these, I had incessant oil leaks from gearbox rear seal. Replaced twice under warranty I then just let it drip as it really wasn’t much.

Often not the gasket but the oil pressure light switch. The inner core separates from the steel outer causing a drip. Or pushrod tube rubbers.
Or in the case of my R100GS all of the above. I’m just servicing it for a trip next week so don’t really have time to do the pushrod tube seals but may take the sump off for a clean up. If the gasket’s shot will RTV be a suitable alternative?

Pushrod tube rubbers is for another time as I know one is very slightly weeping. Maybe as winter job.

Had both…
Tried to seal the oil pressure switch twice before I gave up and spent a small amount of money for a brand new one from motorworks…… you dont even need to drain the gearbox oil to change it !

Bike looks good, and I wish you miles of smiles on it

King rat

Any beer mat that will fit in a tax disc holder….. I only mentioned Guinness as their beer mats used to be round…
Any proper beer …non of this poncy craft beer, or lager will do…… extra kudos if you can find a “double diamond “ or similar beer mat…..something of the right era

it would have to be Wilkins cider for me. The only rough cider worth drinking. 5 pints and hammered then you wake up next morning like you aint had a drink...
