R850GS - 6 speed box ?????

Hi everyone, I've bought a 2000 R850GS, I'm really pleased with the bike as it's what I've been looking for for some time. Love everything about it... except that
I keep trying to change up from 5th gear............

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a 6 speed box from an 1150GS or other model to the R850GS ? I guess it would also require the paralever & shorter swing arm from the 1150 as well.

I don't know if this is 'pie in the sky' or could actually be possible, but if anyone knows of such a conversion I'd appreciate any info they can offer.

.......and to the response 'why not buy an 1150....' yes, I did considered this, but I like the simplicity of the 850, less to go wrong IMHO...

No. Gearbox Mounting points, clutch, clutch actuation, etc etc etc are all different.

The gearboxes on the 850 (pre2001)/1100 are both the same.

Why do you keep trying to change up?

As for 850 being simpler than 1150 - they both have the same features. one is no simpler or more complex than the other. Just smaller bores on your 850, oh, and only five gears but I think you know that!

there's a simple fix - do what I do - avoid the motorways.

If it's too low try changing the bevel box for one with a higher ratio, I did the opposite on my 1150 to get rid of that high bottom gear and made it a differnt bike so easy to ride in heavy traffic but mainly for off roading use.
Try it and see soon get a box s/h and soon sell it again and it dosent take long to do. Wheelies in every gear!.
