R850R AUX power socket location

Hi

I have been an idiot and left the bike with the lights on. Battery nearly flat now.
I just found out what a palaver it is to get to the battery but that you can charge it through the auxiliary power socket.
Where is this fabled socket located ?

Is there not a remote + somewhere near the battery and access to the - or jump start it and run it.

Well I used to bump start my Z1000 quite a lot but that was 30 years ago. I think both me and the bike might end up in a heap on the floor if I tried running with it these days

The aux socket is normally on the LH side somewhere around or below where the battery sits inside with a cover on.

Found it now thanks. And a bit of digging says its a DIN / Hella socket.

There is a an adaptor for my CTEK MXS 7.0 smart battery charger for DIN sockets so I have ordered one for delivery by tomorrow so hopefully that will sort it out.

Take the starter motor cover off (one bolt) and attach the charger live connection the starter live terminal, and the charger earth to any part of the bike to earth.

There is usually some verdigris inside the socket - this can nullify the charging …

Thanks all it worked a treat. The CTEK adaptor is a nice thing on its own. You can plug it in without the charger and it has three LEDs that will give you a quick status on your battery, flat, OKish and fully charged.
