I know that the flappy valves have been discussed at length for GS' but haven't spotted similar for later r9T.

Is it fairly straightforward to set the valve in the fully open position? I'm guessing fitting a Servo Buddy* or similar is required.

*less expensive from Pier City Customs than it is from Ali Express!

On my 2017 Scrambler I did a full flapper valve and servo delete. To kid the ‘brain’ into thinking it was still there I fitted a servo buddy. The flapper valve is replaced by a tube from Wunderlich. Advantages, much cleaner looks and less to go wrong.

Catch being on the mk3 that the flapper valve is integrated into the headers rather than being a removable piece :-(

I suspect that's an attempt to make it tamper resistant as part of the Euro 5 regs.

I'm not keen on paying £1600+ for new headers to solve the problem, and my local dealer's suggestion of a bit of percussive maintenance has not been successful so far.

Can you not just disconnect the cables. I've done that on my 1300gs and no faults come up. The flap stays open.

Indeed.. That used to be the norm. Just disconnect cables flap stays open. servo still moves and assumes all still working.

Thanks.

Not going to have the time to wave spanners for a couple of weeks (prioritising getting the R80 through its MOT), but I'll give that a try.

Remus headers used to be £3-400 when I fitted mine. Guess they don't do them for the recent models?

They do lots for the earlier bikes but only end cans for the 21 on bikes.

Had a lovely Remus system on my R1150R

I've taken the end can off and viewed the valve motion through its test cycle. And persuaded it a bit. I'll see how it goes, but the key thing is that it appears that fully open is the default position so simply disconnecting the connector to the actuator and fitting a servo buddy looks like it should do the trick if the persuasion proves to be ineffective.

Mine is a 21 model and I disconnected the cables at the servo ends and left the electric plug connected, take the servo apart to unhook the cables but leave them in place, it didn’t really make much difference in sound so I put it back as it was

I have a flapper delete kit for sale if anyone’s interested. It’s a Unit Garage link pipe and a servo buddy for a mk2. PM me for details.
