Dear All

Have recently purchased a 1150 GS and am thinking of getting a race can to liberate some of that flat twin sound! Any advice on what to go for and what definitely not too? Does adding a new end-can beef up the mid range, adding torque and HP? Please help the new boy!

Thank you

Remus revolution is the only way to go and 'y' piece, 'y' piece releases the horse's whilst the end can does the sound bit!

A Laser system is better value for money, they offer a y-piece, end can and chip as a package. From memory I think this works out the same or even less than a new remus y and can with no chip.

If you go down the y-piece and end can road get your bike dyno tested to make sure that she aint running lean! Some bikes need a chip while others seem to be ok!

Do a search in the technical section for y-piece, remus, techlusion, chip, cat code plug etc. etc. etc. There's a lot of good information there. If you're feeling really flush you could even get a power commander, which have just recently become available for the 1150 but they aint cheap.

I have a Laser system on my 1100. Its nice if a little quiet for a race can. Although I am used to bikes whose exhausts set car alarms off. So maybe this is just quieter than those but not quiet at all!:D

y piece and remus

I went the y piece/remus titanium/air filter route but i ve now made the best mod ever: replacing the remus can with the original whilst retaining the Y piece. I've done the Steptoe link as well which cures the low down fueling roughness - excellent mod.

The Y releases the power and i've seen no drop in torque/response since replacing the Remus can. If anything the response seems better but this maybe just that i find it easier to rev towards the limiter without deafening the neighbourhood!

There is a lot of talk about backfires with this set up and occassionally i get a loud bang but in 1000 miles since the mod only around 5 so i can live with that. The reason i changed back was the noise - it was just too loud even with the baffle in. With the y piece only, the engine note is still much deeper and louder than standard in any case and in my view the set up is just right.

Maybe do the y piece/airfilter/steptoe link first before splashing out on the can? If you still want a can I guess I may have one for sale.

Thanks

Cheers Gents!

Appreciate the advice! Am looking into the Y piece option!

How much for your old can Nige?

Sounds good Dave - could you post a pic - would i need a connecting pipe? And does it fit with BMW Tourer Luggage?

Keef

Keef , It will fit on a cat or a Y piece.I have zega panniers and it will fit with them, just. Not sure about BMW panniers though. As you can see it is a wee bit smaller than the BMW can and weighs next to nowt.
