Just been in to Rainbow for the recall on the GSA and the tappets adjusting. Had to endure the bald headed guy on the service desk. What a cock!!!!!

Absolutely un helpful. You get the feeling you are really putting him out bringing your bike in for service. I offended him even more when I asked if there is any chance of changing the tyres ......." no 4 weeks before we could even look at doing that!!!" certainly made to feel stupid asking.

It looks like Allan Jefferies will be getting my service trade from now on, and if that is good the sales will follow too.

Did you talk to Rainbow about your 'experience' or will you hope that they read your mind? If they don't know you were not happy, how can you expect them to deal with it? I had one issue with them a few years ago but aired my opinions and we all came to a satisfactory agreement; still use them now and can't fault them.
It's good to talk.:thumb2

Yes spoke with Ian about it.... but it will be interesting to see if anyone else has felt similar.

Open forum???

I hope that you sleep better tonight....

Not sure what your point is here. I only suggested that you talk to the dealer to give them a chance to resolve your issues. You will no doubt find that the majority on here that use Rainbow have nothing but praise for them.

Speak to the Service Manager ( the one you got) again and explain your concerns/dissatisfaction

He's ok really:D

Overall............I would prefer my bikes serviced by Rainbow.............their mechanics are A1

+1 on that - Steve and the rest of the staff at Rainbow are very helpfull and have allways gone "the extra mile" to help me in the past.

I wouldn't take my bike anywhere else :thumb2

Always found all the staff professional, friendly, helpful and polite.

Everybody's entitled to an 'off day' occasionally and there are two sides to every story.

The "cock" would have done exactly as you had asked him to do which sounds like a booked in recall.
You are putting him and everyone else out who had booked their bike in for something specific, not just stop what you are doing and look at my tyres because you are doing a recall on my all important bike.

Then you want him to set a mechanic on to change your tyres for you for which time has not been allocated, that then puts other people out, but you probably don't give a toss about that.:thumb2

Patience and respect might get you a bit more response, if you prefer to call him names on here, where more people have only respect for him and everyone at Rainbow, than talk to him in an orderly manner then I reckon you are definitely better off at Alan Jeffries. :thumb2

you're welcome:thumb

I bet they didn't tell you how to get free coffees either :augie
i reckon they know you're from Leeds.;)

It was booked in originally for the tappets adjusting, the recall was added on, and they had to wait for the engine to cool. So it does not seem unreasonable to ask if the tyres could be changed?? especially since I had gained a slow puncture in the rear.

Anyway it does appear that I am the only one to have suffered bad service from the service dept so it must be me....

Hi Norm – are you the one from Cheers? Or are you Rainbow’s love child with access to free coffee tokens?:hug

I know Rainbow have an excellent reputation – that’s why I bought my bike from them. But they are not perfect - or are we not allowed to report such instances?:thumb

You seem to know a lot about what happened (or you’re psychic) in which case you will know that the tank is taken off as part of the recall (which Steve didn’t) and you would also expect the petrol still to be in your tank on return (which it wasn’t).

If you read all the thread you would have seen my acceptance of ‘a racing accident’. :beerjug:

By the way, I took my bike down to Bikes Tyres Leeds for both tyres changing today.

Done whilst I waited 30 mins fitted to the bike, got a free T Shirt and a £10 gift voucher for Hein Gericke from Donna. All for just turning up and giving them some trade???
Don't worry Norm I did also ask if it was alright for them to fit them, just in case I was delaying somebody else who might be coming :pullface

Now that is service!!! £210 back and front fitted and balanced, and they welcome people from outside Leeds. :augie

Much more balanced, thank you.
But I assure you it is me, as others will confirm.:thumb2

Anyway i'm in the US doing the west to east tour so I don't know why i even stuck my nose into this one:blast

Thats late night drinking for you.:jager:beer::ChrisKelly

Steve

I took my GS for service once and asked them if they would check the clutch action as the gearbox was particularly clunky.
Reply, "Have you owned a BMW before?", which translated presumably means "you thick git. They all do that. It's called character".
My reply, "Yes, I've had five. The gear change is the worst I've ever had".
It turned out it was a crap gear change, all the time.
Condescending? YES.

As for the tyre change issue: surely a business like this should be able to cope with an unexpected customer needing a wear and tear item changing during the same day. One month to change the tyres is ludicrous.
A few years ago, on a Saturday, I had a puncture in Scotland and Motoradd Central said bring it in as soon as you can and we will change the tyre. I had the audacity to ask for the nearly worn out tyre to be changed too.
And they did.
