I recently swapped my RT for a GSA & having spoken with Balderstones (who were much, much better this time than my last experience with them), Astles in Grimsby (who were pretty poor ) & Rainbow I decided to go with Rainbow.

I've had to wait for the Nav 5 to arrive so have kept my powder dry as I didn't want to comment until all the i's were dotted & t's crossed.
The Nav 5 was fitted yesterday and I'm happy to say that I've been absolutely delighted with the service I've received from the time we shook hands on the deal.

Josh & Sancha (?), in Sales & Steve in Service have been outstanding in dealing with someone with OCD &, at times, must have been tearing their hair out with my questions & requests. Nothing was too much trouble, every promise was kept & the whole transaction went superbly.

I bought my last RT from a cracking guy at Pidcocks (Ritchie Round) who has unfortunately left the BMW fold & had imagined I'd just keep going back there to change my bike. On the basis of my recent experience with Rainbow it looks klike they'll be getting my repeat business from here.

So you were the one:D

I was in this week

Only joking...........

nothing too much trouble, for them

I bought mine from Astles as they were £200 cheaper than Rainbow as the Bike was physically at Astles and Rainbow wopuld have had to fetch it from there. I was actually sorry not buying it from Rainbow as they were very good throughout my enquiries and PITA questions. Cant say i was that impressed with Astles but cash is cash and the £200 went towards a Twat suit (from Rainbow)

Well Astles cant have been that bad if you bought from them.

As said they wer not bad just not impressive and as also said £200 is £200

Now had the bike been the same price or even only £50 difference i would without a doubt bought it from Rainbow as they were far more helpfull when i srated my quest to become a GS owner than Astles were once i had decided what exactly i wanted and when.
Just trying to get through to bike sales at astles was a pain and they never called back despite the promises of the receptionist which i suppose is a downside of being car and bikes sales operation compared to RB just bikes.
as an aside the phone thing has not changed as i rang a month ago to talk about changing to a GSA and i am still waiting the return call so they cant be desperate for business.

Any way this wasnt about slagging Astles more about praising Rainbow

just got an enquiry in with rainbow for a 13k service on my gas. Always gone to astles. but have heard rainbow is the place to go. I have been told that castle are expensive for servicing??

I live in Rotherham and bought my first/current R1200GS from Rainbow. I've been back around a dozen times for little niggles and for stuff from the parts dep. I've not been acknowledged by any sales staff including Ian who sold my my bike. I'm not one of the minted ones so not worth the bother apparently!!!!!!!!

Customer service is only reserved for people who can afford it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear ...

I don't think so ...

I'm certainly not a good customer, the last 'bike I bought from Rainbow was over five years ago

But some times, unfortunately, it comes down to personalities ...

Same here, last new GSA in 2005 and another 3 secondhand bikes, in 2008 and 2010..................but no bikes since, but Ian always has time to talk and we had a good chat this week (he did say I could have a 12GS WC for £2/week though:D)

Same with Steve in service and Tony in parts (still get my bikes serviced there and buy parts/accessories too) - they always have time for the craic and the servicing guys downstairs really know how to twirl a spanner or two, some of the best technicians I know

You must catch them on an off day, Stu

The dealership is about the sum of the people who work there and I find them down to earth and friendly, together with being both competent and professional

BUGGERS they are....... :bow:nenau:thumby: They've never feted on me as I walk in either, no red carpet or nothing !!!!!!!!!

QUITE THE OPPOSITE - I find a good morning here and a good morning there always gets me a response, great banter and advice with all of the good folks that work there, sometimes it pays to try first.

Customer service is reserved for everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMO :thumby:

Aye, perhaps a little harsh on you.

We're all different & that's what makes life's rich tapestry so unique & wonderful. :thumb

Always ok to deal with at Rainbow and always friendly enough but I do find them quite frustrating at times.

Steve

In what way,Steve ?

Having now bought 3 bikes from them I always find it frustrating that they insist the extras on your bike have no real value but want to reduce the PX price if you want to remove them, having said that I always ended up being happy with the deal.

I do feel they are slightly arrogant at times. When buying one bike Astel were £900 better on the deal, when I suggested this to them at Rainbow their reply was, and I quote "That's impossible I'd buy it from them at that deal" so I did.

What really frustrates me is when you ring with a well known problem and they pretend it's the first they've heard of it.

The 1200wc is in my opinion the best GS there has been up-to date despite me having some gearbox/clutch issues.

When I initially spoke to the service dept at Rainbow they where adamant that I was the first person that had brought this up and that they had never come across it.
When I pointed out that I was aware of at least four other bikes bought from Rainbow who's owners had taken bikes back for this problem they flatly denied any knowledge, and to be honest it's this tendency to sometimes treat folks as if their stupid that really frustrates me when you know full well that if there is a problem they will do their upmost to sort it.

Overall a great dealership but sometimes just let down a little by unnecessary arrogance.

Steve
