After negotiating a deal on a new 1200gs,we decided to place an order for the bike with "Rainbow Motorcycles" at Rotherham, despite there being two dealers closer to me,but that's another story.
A couple of days after placing the order i had decided on a few accessories i wanted on the bike.Being,Front fender extender, pair of winglets,Engine protection bars and brake, clutch resevoir protectors.
I spoke to Tony in the parts dept, ordered these bits and said i would pick them up when i got the bike.
On Friday Joanne and i were going to the peak district for a couple of nights and had arranged to call in at rainbow to sort the paperwork out.
When we arrived at the showroom there was our bike sat there all sparkely and new.
Not only that, but the bits i had ordered, protection bars, winglets etc were fitted to the bike and along with the alloy luggage it looked the dogs bits.
Because of my recent operation i would struggle to ride my 1150gsa the 80mls to Rotherham and then ride the new bike back.
So on tuesday my new bike is being delivered to my door and my 1150 picked up at no cost to me.
Many thanks to Ian,Shaun, and Tony, who made the experience a pleasure, lets hope it's the beggining of a long and happy relationship.

Been Top dealer up there many times :thumb:thumb

I've met Shaun and collected a bike from him, the thing that stands out form my local dealer is that the man is an enthusiast for the Marque and the customer!

Good Result Now where would you like me to ride the bike to???

I can assure ya that If I come into a few quid I'll probably be going there to get a new or fresh bike!

Good to hear... spread the word :thumb

I don't work for Rainbow but four generations of 'Wheelers' have had new bikes from them :thumb

OK ... I'm well biased :pullface

Top team indeed :thumb

No.1 dealer in my book.......................if they can make things happen...............then they surely will

Can't fault them and I've bought some bikes off them over the years:D

i was on my way to the chunnel in may when my FPC gave up (yeah, i know....again:()in Doncaster. BMW assist were completely useless, apart from sending out a tow truck. But i managed to get in touch with Rainbow through a friend, they pulled out all the stops and got me going in time for my crossing. i cannot praise these guy's highly enough, top dealers:clap:clap:clap

Because of the service & backup at Rainbow.....thats why I spend my money on Beemers.

RAINBOW RULES OK :clap:clap:clap

Rainbow are extremely extremely good, everything from parts, service and sales, each and every one of them work for the customer.

That doesnt seem to be the way I see it - I have been completely loyal to them (Bike / Kit / Servicing) but I am nursing a very hefty bill for a problem that was apparent during the warranty period. They say BMW dont want to know about a policy claim because although loads of parts have been changed they cannot identify if the problem has been cured or not.

This sort of thing matters to me when I come to change in June next year.

Couldnt fault them until that point but will be difficult to spend money with them now. Really disappointed cos I did really like the bike and the people. But I also understand they have to cover their costs.

What other dealers do I have as options when I come to Change close to Rotherham?

Sounds to me that you have a problem with BMW and not Rainbow, so if you change dealer you will still have the same problem again, so you might need to change the make of bike..

dealer

riktus.......there is a BMW dealer in york, barry robson.only a small concern so if you've been spoilt (mainly) by rainbow,it may not be for you.i took my gs650 (ex ebay!) for a service, and found the mecci sorted guy,but the owner a miserable git.maybe he was having a bad day?
re rainbow.bought my 1200gs from them when i traded the 650 in. no probs taking bikes out,as you'll know.service it there (coffee should be free with the mullah we spend!) always offer me a bike to take out,but as it's march,i always arrive in the wazzing rain.....more coffee!....i had a pre morocco mot/tyres change/service in march.as i'm a total numpty when doing servicing jobs,i asked them if i could go in w/shop with mecci.no probs.showed me a few tricks of trade etc for roadside probs.....great service, great guys.just wish the add ons were a tad cheaper...oh,and the bike did a 5500 mile round trip, not missing a beat!.....tyke

That's a shame

BMW Warranty nowadays is very patchy

In 2007 things on my 1150Adv were put right (new rear bevel drive - play within 500 miles and front telelever - paint finish)

In 2009 things on my XChallenge weren't - seat damage to subframe, but I did get a free battery after the warranty expired. The subframe was thoroughly investigated by Rainbow and pics sent to BMW AG in Germany - but the claim was rejected...................not Rainbows fault whatsoever

BMW are tightening up constantly on warranty repairs..................fact of life

Thanks for your replies.

Anybody got any experience of Alan Jeffries?

Rik

Yeah, I used AJ's for my last GSA, they were ok.

There was a mix up on delivery but they sorted it out ok when I chased them up. The staff seem fairly friendly and you normally always get a few coffees when you're in there doing business with them

Price wise they seem fairly average.

Saying that I'm trying Rainbow next for the servicing on my new bike after the glowing reports I've heard on here.

Thanks Nick
I have now made contact with AJ and am going up to see them next week.

I cant fault my previous deals with Rainbow so would support you trying them but just a little "positive" advice - book early cos they do tend to be full for a fair amount of the time.

rainbow

top dealers they let a mate use a second hand show room bike for over 3 weeks and 1200 miles whilst his 05 plate was being taken off a private plate and re registered, dvla lost the paper work so they leant him an 06 plate to get used to,he got his bike 2 days before our week long 1800 mile scotland trip in oct 08 but they were willing to give him the use of their bike if it hadn't come through, excellent service and very willing to give days out on a demo bike too top notch
