Hi All,

Has anyone fitted the drinking system to one of these jackets? BMW state it is set-up for their Motorrad system and I am wondering if I couldn't just use a standard camel back bladder?

Has anyone done this successfully?

If so I don't suppose you could let me know how you fitted it into the jacket (ie how is it secured so it doesn't fall out or rip the suit?)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yup, I have fitted a 1.5 liter Camelbak bladder and it works fine. At >30°C it is very nice to have! A sip of water every 10 minutes or so keeps you fit for hours.

At the top, I have put a little bit of rope with 2 loops to attach it to the provided press fasteners in the jacket. And I added a 90° elbow at the mouth piece end, so it's no problem to use it inside the helmet.

Make sure you get one with a big filler cap, so it's easy to fill without removing it from the jacket.

Cheers,
Michel

Michel,

Thanks for the info.

I have a 2l camel back bladder with a 90dg mouth piece, so that sounds like it will work.

Is there any chance you could send a photo or more detailed instructions on the fitting - I can't find the press studs you are referring to???

Does the weight of a full bladder put any strain on the jacket?

Regards,

Shayne

If you remove the gore-tex liner and the armour liner (2 zippers) you can see the bladder pocket in the back of the jacket.

At the top, there are two strips with press studs. If you attach a small bit of rope with two loops, you can "hang" the bladder there.

When it's full it does make the jacket heavy of course, but once you're wearing it that's not a problem. As long as you don't get a good slap in the back :D

Cheers,
Michel

ditto on that one, did exactly the same with a 1.5 l camelback with no problems, i tend not to fill it full, maybe around 0.75 - 1.0 l in it....

My two pence worth, I tried it and to be honest it was to ackward and felt terrible. Then there was the issue with refilling the f'ing thing!

Plus and the main reason, I felt like that Notre Dam fella?

So, in the end I went back to the good 'ole Camelback, at least it was easy to fill and I could carry some stuff at the same time.

Michel,

At the risk of sounding like an idiot how did you attach the bladder to the rope loops to "hang".

Thanks,

Shayne

Err... with a knot? ;)

I'll try to make a piccy tonight. Have you found the press studs in the jacket in the mean while?

Cheers,
Michel

ah ... yeah ... I opened my eyes?

A pic would be great I'm having difficulty visualising how the bladder is supported by the loops???

Cheers,

Shayne

I agree with BTBR, I got the BMW drinking system for the jacket going to Morocco last year. Far too fiddely to get in and out, especially when tired after a long day on the bike, and re-filling and emptying stale water is a bugger.

For next year I will have a standard Camelback on the outside of the jacket.

Also agree with Alan, when the drink system is on the inside you feel like that guy who's face rings a bell:D and it makes the jacket weigh a ton when putting in on and taking it off.

Nice idea, but needs a simpler easier to use system rather than undoing all those zips and fasteners. (Maybe I'm just lazy) but I've always worked on the KISS principal.....Keep It Simple Stupid!!;)

I use the platypus system and put it in the tankbag with the feed pipe just hanging out, just take a swig when stopping at traffic lights etc.......thanks to Dennis!!.....
