hi, pick up my new adventure in 3 weeks and was going to get the bmw rallye suit, for which for some reason i have been called a twat on numerous occassions !! how does the rev-it cayenne suit compare ?

I have the revvit jacket and it's the best jacket I have ever owned. Bought it prior to a trip through europe and had blazing heat (great vents) snow and some rain and it coped very well with it all. At 1/2 the price of the tw*t suit I would recommend it.

:D buy whichever one YOU want...
don't be influenced by others, it's be a crap place if we were all the same with the same tastes!
I looked at both before buying the Re'it suit, (off trac/Dakar combo) and decided that if it only lasted half as long as a BMW suit it would still be better value for money as it costs less than half the price !
So far, 6 months in habing ridden thru blazing sun, pouring rain and snow and sleet I can still recommend it as a purchase.
I have every faith in the BMW suit being every bit as good;)

What funners said... get what YOU want.

However, I've a pair of factor pants and my arse gets wet in a heavy rain, a mate has the Cayenne and loves it as he's a fair weather rider but it is not waterproof. there is plenty of people around having issues with the waterproofness of Revit. As i suggested to him though, you can buy ex Dutch army smock/field jacket gore-tex liners for a 10'er or the BMW ones for 100 euro. and without too much issue retro fit it.
If you want water proof stay with Gore tex

I was thinking of choosing between the Cayenne and the BMW Rallye......Is the Rallye Goretex?

Thanks.

Ian.

Got a Rukka APR Jacket so I could say 'money doesn't matter'. But it is comfortable and works in a wide climate range.

No, the Rallye is not Goretex, BUT comes with a goretex liner.

In the rain the jacket leaks but the Goretex liner keeps you dry.

Even with the liner the outside of the rallye2 jacket gets wet and as a consequence it starts wicking away heat. Also because it has soaked up all that water it gets heavy and if you're traveling and accidentally put your passport in the non waterproof pocket that will also add to your misery :blast

I like the styling of the BMW jackets but the cost and the shortcomings and the fact that I think their competitors are catching them I would say certainly research the others but at the end of the day go with the one You like. :thumb2

Jackets

Rallyes are best for hot weather as they have loads of vents and they work.
Rukkas are expensive, last for ever good long warrenty and are good for europian climtes. Still using min e 11 years this year and it has had some stresses!.

Another vote for the revit offtrack and dakar combo, worn in pissing rain and 50 degree sun in morocco and spain, no problemo.... Great suit.

The search function is your friend .....

You could always read the 100's of posts on the subject but to paraphrase them here is a potted history (I've owned both so I can comment :toungincheek ):

Twat Suit:
positives are - quality, venting, guarantee, styling (for some). The outer doesn't get heavy if you re-proof it with the correct NicWax stuff to repel water. The inner lining doesn't normally leak, people just don't wear the correct base layers and so they sweat.
negatives are - styling (for some). There is no adjustment so you either buy to fit over winter layers (flappy in the summer) or to fit over summer layers (too tight with winter thermals). You must wear technical layers as otherwise you sweat and feel like it leaks. There is no thermal lining. COST!

Rev'It Cayenne:
positives are - good vfm, adjustable on arms and waist, three leg lengths, thermal as well as waterproof lining (can be used together or seperately), three colour combos so not a 'uniform', styling
negatives are - may not be in the Rukka / twat suit quality level, zips a little flimsy (I've had no issues but they aren't as chunky as the twat suit), no back protector (although one can be bought as an extra), the label isn't as 'designer' as some.

I've had the twat now I'm twatish. :thumb2
