OK, I'm sure this will stir up lots of people, but how good is the Rallye Pro gear? I had a look at it in the dealership yesterday, and whilst it looks very good quality with lots of nice details (Bells, whistles & a drinks bladder)

I can't quite get my head around £820 for a suit. There is so much gear out there for £250. Or even less, if your prepared to have the hard ship of putting on or taking off an extra layer when weather changes.

Is this stuff really 3 or 4 times as good

There's no such thing as a perfect, all-weather suit. One has to define comfort-zone criteria based on rider prefs and rider environment.

Bucketloads of opinions and experiences here:

I'm also in the market for a new suit, ride all year and seriously consider getting a Rallye 3, Rallye 2 or Klim Adventure Rally suit. Lots of considerations to take into account, but I'm ready to dosh out for a Klim suit if the darn Icelandic volcanos don't mess up my job situation :augie

The Klim has a lifetime warranty and will propably last into my retirement. It's state-of-the-art Gore-Tex Proshell technology and well fit to my all-weather, all-year riding. The downside is price, but the longevity and endurance of a Pro-shell suit can make it a good rider investment.

In contrast and perspective:
A bit more moderately priced, with good warm weather ventilation and the C-change membrane, I also find the Rallye 3 suit a good alternative, but in contrast to the inherently waterproof Proshell suits, the Rallye 3 outer cordura layer is not waterproof. It will require an extra non-lined rainsuit as outer waterproof layer when riding in colder, rainy Scandinavian weather.

It all boils down to personal prefs and priorities. For me it's a question of all-year, all-weather performance over years and how the rider outfit wears over time. If you only ride in summer, fair-weather prefs etc. the priorities may vary. For me, that Rallye 3 suit can work with an additional waterproof oversuit. I don't mind the price that much if it'll remain waterproof and intact after 5 years or more of all-year riding.

Your mileage may vary:)

Dane Clothing

Contact Lo-IQ of this parish to discuss the above clothing. I can personally recommend it having purchased some myself after a long search.

The rallye 3 is in my opinion only a three season jacket you'll need something better for long winter runs, nice pockets and zips though.

The BMW stuff is good IMHO and the armour is substancial and works (having crash tested it :augie)

I tried some Rev'it stuff but the armour seemed flimsy and the clothing not as well made :hide

Whether its worth the price depends on how much/what type of riding you do and how deep your pockets are I suppose

Something to bear in mind with virtually all BMW items is they tend to have good residuals and you could sell the jacket for at least 50% of what you paid for it a couple of years down the line (if you look after it)

I'm not a fan of goretex for motorcycle gear.

It normally forms the inner layer of the clothing so all the outer layers get soaked. As the water evaporates in the wind blast you get just as cold as if you were wet on the inside..

Also sitting on a bike doesn't generate the temperature gradient which is needed to make the Gortex work properly.

Gortex is great in outdoor gear, but in bike gear is no more than a gimmick - much better to have a waterproof shell.

..or you could go with the Klim Adventure suit at £1800.00 :eek:eek

There's a fair few Rallye 2 suits for sale on this very site, you just need to be patient to get the right size. I've recently sold a set and wish I could have swopped it for the same just smaller, but not being your average sized tosser I had little hope:augie
I bought a used Aerostitch from on here and am so impressed with it I've stumped up and ordered a new one but made to measure. So as soon as my new one arrives they'll be a used Roadcrafter 42s in the for sale section :D
From what I've seen though in the BM dealer the Rallye 2 suits were better than the Rallye 3's, looked like cost cutting was there priority when they made it :eek

I have had the rally pro 3 both parts for 3000 miles now. And have used it from 3c to 30c and lots of the wet stuff .
Have found it to excellent with the liners in on the hottest days and the coldest , ventilation very is good

The armour in the trousers is a bit low on the leg but tucks into the top of my sidi adventure boots just fine and is in the perfect place.
But don’t leave the slightest gap on the trousers zip when doing it up , as any thing small that is in your pockets will fall out when you sit down.
Over all excellent and well worth the money if it lasts the test of time !
If not then I guess I am a bigger tosser then I thought

there are two stocking dealers of the klim adventure rally suit in the UK at the moment, The KTM Centre at Hemel Hempstead and Route 55 Motorcycles at Queensferry, North wales. You can also come and see us (adventure-spec) in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. We are the distributors for Klim and also the original designers of the adventure rally suit, which is why our logo is on it.

The suit isnt a gimmick. Unlike all the other stuff it had four evolutionary designs throughout its development, which included 2 dakar rallies and over 50,000 miles of mixed expedition riding.

Before you pass judgement you need to at least try one on or see it in the flesh as it is utterly different to any other motorcycle riding kit.

got about 5000 miles on my jacket and agree with the above. This is a true no compromise jacket. About the cost of top of the line Rukka with so many more features it boggles the mind. Venting is great. Waterproofing is great. Armor is comfortable, but pathetically small. Klim made it easy to get more in though in between the shell and mesh liner. Currently running with stock D30 and Knox elbow armor. Great investment!

Tried the Klim Jacket at The KTM Centre... Interesting design - but not for me...

Whereas in other jackets there always seems to be a size to fit me (am I'm normally a large) I couldn't find a size in the Klim Adventure range that was at all comfortable... No matter how we adjusted the harness.

The large was obviously the size I needed but there was an abundance of loose material which "rucked up" on each side across from the zipper, over the collar bone area to the shoulder... When sat on a bike this "gathered / bunched up" to a point that it affected comfort of the neck area and pressed against the base of my Schuberth helmet...

With Jack's help (from the KTM Centre) we adjusted all the straps on the harness several times to try and "tailor" the jacket as we should have done - but to no avail.

Tried a medium as well but that was obviously too small.

Interestingly, two other people tried the extra large size Adventure jacket on while I was there and felt the same...

The guys at the KTM Centre offered to call Chris at Adventure Spec to see whether any adjustments / alterations could be made... As I didn't hear back I decided I did not want to spend £1,000 on a jacket that would be a bit of a compromise comfort wise or that had to be altered (if that was possible - but I'm not sure if this is feasible as I didn't get a call back as I say) and went to audition the new BMW suit...

The Rally Pro 3 however fitted perfectly straight off the shelf and I got jacket, trousers and gloves for less than the cost of the Klim jacket... I should have gone their first maybe ??

I suppose we are all different shapes and sizes, but I was surprised that 3 people, all excited by the discussion about the jacket, found that it was nowhere near as comfortable as we had been led to believe...

For me, the Rally Pro 3 has turned out to be an excellent buy. Better comfort and a lower price...

And, to answer the OP's point, well worth the money... In rain, cold weather and, this weekend's, heat it has been very comfortable...

Rallye 3 Pro experience

I've had the rallye 3 pro suit for the last 2,5 months. In my opinion its a great suit, but my dealer had to replace it already, since it didn't hold up to the Dutch weather. My armpits and crotch were getting wet (not damp). Also, I found it to be a bit chilly while riding it (with the inner lining in) in weather colder than 6 degrees C. And the inner lining definitely has to come out if its above 19 degrees C.

I haven't fallen or scuffed it yet, so I can't say what the fabric will do. Overall I :inlove it :D
