Rallye Sports Suspension - How do I tell the difference?

I'm looking out for a 1200GS Rallye & fancy the taller sports suspension.

Looking at the bike, how can you tell if it does or does not have the optional extra?

I'm led to think the gold reservoir on the shock denotes D-ESA.

This bike has no ESA. So no gold shock or black ESA box behind it.

It’ll be the same height as a GSA when you get on it. It’s quite a difference so should be noticeable.

Yep!

I just can't seem to tell the difference looking online. Is there any visual difference other than the bike sitting 20mm taller, which is hard to see looking at the pictures.

I had a Rallye with sports suspension I can’t think of an easy visual check you can make, you notice the taller stance when you’ve seen one but from a pic it’s hard to tell, most dealers can do a build spec check for you, I believe many Rallye models with sport suspension were supplied without a centre stand (mine was) I ordered one for mine I ordered the centre stand for the ADV. Model.

Good point regarding the stand.
The only one I've actually found with the taller suspension is at Rybrook Motorrad and I would agree you can see the taller stance but the pictures are deceptive and none seem to be advertised with it! Shame that one is rough.

The easy way to confirm the difference will be using a tape measure.
measuring the distance from the fixed point on the frame to the calliper bolt or other fixed point on the swingarm ideally
when the bike is on the centre stand
R1200GS
190mm front suspension travel
200mm rear suspension travel
R1200GSA
210mm front suspension travel
220mm rear suspension travel

Maybe someone could set the bike on the centre stand and provide the measurement for GS or GSA
That distance will be 20mm greater for GSA suspension and Rally sport vs standard GS
Picture just for reference.
GSA shock assembly is 5mm longer then GS but is very hard to measure when is installed on the bike.
