I have been ask for waterproof cradles for a PDA's and iPOD/MP3 players and had mentioned that a RAM solution will be forthcoming.

I think this is the best home to mention that the RAM Aqua box is coming and offers a suitable waterproof casing for these devices.

Aqua Box 2 for iPod, Creative, Dell etc
Aqua Box 3 for mini MP3 players.

In summary its general features are: -
* All inclusive sealed casing and Flex-Lens.
* Touch through lens to operate buttons.
* Power, earphone and accessory cables are routed through a self draining baffle design to keep moisture out yet allow device to breath and stay cool.
* Easily locks with any standard mini padlock.
* Flex-Lens can be replaced if scratched or damaged.
* Padded foam interior to provide additional shock and vibration protection.

I hope this helps.

Otterbox has been doing this for ages! It's available there and compatible with RAM mounts (optional).

Great products! I guess RAM was tired to sell only the mounts for these and decided to make the cases as well!

A bit of competition is always welcomed, the consumer always win!

Good luck to RAM...

Have just got my hands on a pre-release AquaBox3 and first impressions .. I like it.

The back of the casing has a round moulded imprint so can take a RAM-B-202 base or in my view, just as OK with the diamond base (RAM-B-238) which part of most mount kits. In the rear round mould , the centre spot 25mm dia can be punched thru for sliding thru connector or cable.

AquaBox is weatherproof option for pda and MP3 mindiscs. I would still be concerned trying to use it with pda that has a gps flash card inserted - but that the next to try when AquaBox2 arrives.

I like the look of this a lot. Beats having it in my tank bag!

Which RAM mount would be best for fitting it to my R1200 GS? I already have a touratech mount for SatNav above the instruments and would prefer to put it on the left handlebar - somewhere in the area highlighted on the picture.

I guess we're talking some kind of u-bolt and clamp and then an arm but I have no idea which one.

Pressurized.. Looking at the posted image of the 1200GS ..Then RAM-B-149Z (diamond base) or RAM-B-149Z-Q1 (round base), both are U-bolt and arm based. This can fit onto either the handlebars or the Oval rail bar above the clocks. To attach onto the TT rail bar ?, I guess its thinner, so add the shim adaptor, RAP-319.

I've just got myself a yakumo delta x pda with gps, this aquabox looks ideal for keeping it dry and still usable, although the antenna is attached/hinged to the top of the unit. Will it still fit? or is it possible to get dimensions, all the pictures seem to feature ipods which are a bit smaller.

GPS bicycle mounts

Hi Steve, sorry to hijack this thread, I tried to send a PM to you, but wasn't allowed ? You have been recomended through the GS'er grapevine, can you supply a bicyle handlebar mount for a Garmin III, also looking for a power cable to BMW accessory socket for a Garmin street pilot III, any help would be apprciated, regards Dusan. :thumb

Kev, I have a 'MyGuide Navigator 6500XL' very similar to the Yakumo and Mitac Mio units. A friend of mine had a problem with his PocketPC (Mio) where the flip up GPS antenna vibrated so badly when mounted on the bike (GS Adv)that the plastic hinge wore out. Another mate has the same unit and he uses it on his bike (R12GS) with the GPS antenna folded away and it still works perfectly (probably due to the plastic body). I intend to buy a waterproof housing (either Otterbox or Ram) and use mine with the antenna stowed. If all else fails I will fit the remote antenna to it.

Dusan,

My calling card is on the header banner if you need it.

I assume you've got tubular 25mm 1" handlebars ? , then go for RAM-B-149Z-G1 . This a complete kit and attaches to the cradle (remove from bean bag mount). Spare Garmin cradles are available, 010-10304-00 and a power lead is BEC01 (gps warehouse own brand part).

I have only seen the AQ3 version and its very neat and I like it very much. Visitors to gps warehouse can see it as from this week.

In my view (and until I've seen AQ2), the aquabox2 will only hold a pda and not pda + the add-on gps bulge. Maybe a pda and flash card which is inserted flush with the pda casing. The AQ2 will hold Dell X50 and new HP ipaqs.

AQ3 should be appearing in 1 to 2 weeks and AQ2 is still up to 5 weeks away.
Cabling is accessible from the back plate (punch out 25mm disc) and to get access I would use the RAM diamond base (part of the normal mount) instead of the round base as it will obscure the access route.

Hi Ram-Man

Is there any news (available dates, prices etc) on the aquabox for the ultimate zen micro (I think its AQ3)

Cheers
Ralph

RAM-HOL-AQ2 arrived today but in small qty, so at least they getting out, but am still waiting for RAM-HOL-AQ3.

Looking at the inside of AQ2, it appears to hold 72mm wide (max) and 150mm device height (max) though the corners are rounded, depth is 15mm (max) when adhesive pad is removed which comes in different thickness in the kit.
