I've just mounted my TomTom onto the bar using the clamp supplied with the TomTom and some rubber bits (again supplied with the TomTOM). My concern is over tightening it since I believe the bar is hollow and i'll end up crushing it. I'm sure others must have done something similar, is it hollow and could you get enough of a clamp so that it won't droop down after 10 mins. of riding?

One thing guaranteed is that Santa Claus isn't bringing me the Navigator. Not yet anyway.

I ran a Garmin mounted to a ram ball U-clamp on the nav prep bar for about a year before getting a Nav V. Worked fine with some plastic bits to sleeve the clamp down to size, clamped it plenty tight without harming the cross bar.

Thanks. I've looked for something like your plastic bits online but came up blank. If the bar is not hollow then I can tighten it down a bit more. I'm using the "standard" u bolt and ram bar. Massively overkill considering it goes round 1" bars . I'll probably eventually get the Nav 5 but need to get it under the radar so to to speak and Christmas isn't the time.

I found the Ram mount U bolt was too small to fit the GS bars. I bought a Ram ball with a threaded stud of Amazon, this replaces one of the Bar clamp screws and works much better than the U bolt fixing
