RAM Mount vibrations

I just got a 2610 with one of MiGSel's neat Ram mounts. I really like the positiion of the GPS mounted this way but I can hardly see the maps as the ram arm seems to amplify the vibrations. It's a short (one to one and a half inch I'd guess) arm.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I can to to dampen the vibrations?

I'm a total RAM newbie so even the most obvious thing might help

Yes.

But think its the REV and SPEEDO vibrating not ram-mount, or MIGSELS bit !

Use a short arm that helps.

Thanks Bakerman, but I think the arm I've got is about as short as it could be unless there are special arms you can buy

Is the mount on a 1200 GS or and 1150GS?

The MiGSel bracket is the 1100 style one (just a C bracket rather than the 1150 style integrated one) but is on the R1150GS (not ADV)

I had this on my 1150 with the same 2610 cradle etc with no problems.

That's weird... There are quite a few 1100's on the road with this combination and I haven't heard the same complaint yet.

Is your speedo well secured?
Are the rubber dash mounts in decent shape?
No loose screws here or there?

It sometimes makes a difference if you move the unit a little bit. I once had bad vibes on the motorway at about 130 km/h. At the next stop I moved the unit a bit and the vibes were gone. It can be a case of resonance sometimes.

Do some checking and keep us posted please.

Michel - I will try what you suggest. I'm pretty sure everything is tight as I've only just fitted it but I'll double check.

I have only used it once on a short trip so it may well be resonance. I'll let you know.

i get resonance vibes on he blade,so bad it was shutting the GPS down

no problems on the DRZ though EVEN during hard off-road riding
