After several weeks of studying this most informative of forums I have finally taken the plunge and ordered a Streetpilot 2610 from Aspid (Fedex delivery due tomorrow - fingers crossed).

I have ordered the Garmin motorcycle kit with the unit and now need to sort out a fitting bracket (sorry if my terminology is all over the place).

I am keen on a handlebar fitment and wondered if any of you chaps have used the RAM brake fluid reservoir cover with attached ball? Any helpful advice or comments would be gratefully received.

If not on the brake fluid reservoir, which RAM mounts are most suitable for an R1150GS handlebar?

Regards,

Snowy.

Snowy,
the standard RAM 1" U bolt is fine. I'd get the 3" arm to go with it. I had this setup before getting one of MiGSels mounts. The benefit of Migsels mount is that it's more in your eyeline, and you can keep the road ahead in your peripheral vision still. The downside is that it vibrates a lot.

I got my RAM stuff from these guys:

I agree with Gasman.

There have been some comments about the Garmin versus Ram cradle. If you want to know more, use the search button to find out what you need.

Thanks gasman, just ordered the 3" arm and mount online.

Anyone got any experience of the reservoir mount as an option?

Or you can mount it here :D

Snowy,

I see Migsel and Spanish Bob have already answered some points.

You mention .. "I am keen on a handlebar fitment and wondered if any of you chaps have used the RAM brake fluid reservoir cover with attached ball? The Migsel solution is fine, so is the RAM-B-149 handlebar mount with the RAM-HOL-GA9 for the 2610, and can be found within www.ram-mount-uk.com

I am aware of 'others' adapting a RAM ball mount onto the resevoir so it becomes 'their' own product. This is NOT a RAM mount part.

Mounting the 2610 has been discussed earlier within the forum.

Regards,

RAM-man
