RAM twist-n-tilt mount base

Just been sent a new 'toy' to play with and prepare instructions for .

Its a twist-n-tilt mount base which can turn 360 degrees rotational plus forward and backwards, 90 degrees.

Intended for use in the redundant threaded mirror stem hole on clutch/brake assemblies, the cap socket screws are grade 5 steel, self coated, black oxide and foresee them ending up in the handlebar yoke clamp (not sure yet if thats a good idea or not).

Included in the kits are 4 cap socket screws so suit Jap and BMW bikes,

M6-1.0
M8-1.25
M10-1.25

I still have some work to do with it this week including a steel grade test before saying OK for yoke clamp.

Nice and most welcome bit of kit - if it fits jap bikes too I can use it on mine I have a Jap, Italian and Brit bike

I thought the brake one was threaded, but I could thread the clutch one

Decided, its not for use on the handlebar yoke clamp, so do not remove a steel cap socket screw and replace with it. The following note has been added to the instructions.

** Important Safety Note **
It is not suggested, or recommended, that users remove any existing stainless steel cap socket screw parts and replace it with the RAM Twist and Tilt mount base. An example is the handlebar yoke clamp bracket or any other vital attachment which holds essential structural components together.

Not wishing to piss on any bonfires whatsoever, but I can't even get a 3 inch arm to stay upright with a Rino 520 in its cradle offroad.....I suspect these may be great for road riders but how strong and rigid do you think they'll be for those of us who like a bit of rough, Steve?

Bill, apologise for the edited pun, but let me know more by pm or email. The balls are conjoined by an arm which when tightend squeeze on the ball which in creates vice like grip.

Not wishing at all to follow your example here Steve but I've screwed me three inch shaft up to my balls as tight as I can, to the point in fact that they've become squished by the 'vice like grip', but under off road conditions, the arm drops under the weight of the Rino (and other bits and bobs, including a Quest in a Ram mount on a Migsel type ball arrangement.

Don't get me wrong...I've tried lots of alternatives and the RAM system is still the best by a considerable margin, but I'd like to be able to mount my shaft on my balls more rigidly

Had a look at the new Tilt and swivel mount today from Ram Man. The bad news is that it will not fit in place of the mirror on my 1150 but am sure it would on loads of other bikes may be the 1200 ... Found a place to mount it though. Just take out the fixings for the handguards and place a longer bolt through the Ram Mount .....

Ramy first thought it would be possible to use the mount in place of the handlebar clamp bolts but probably due to loads of H&S shit the instructions say not to do it. I however had a cunning plan ......

That bolt is BMWubblyou part No. 32717652161 and is supllied in place of the normal clamp bolts if you have fog lights fitted. Its threaded in the top in order to mount the switch ..... I decided to use it with an appropriate bolt through the Ram Mount ....
