I have an old Dell Dimension 8250 desktop circa 2003, which is really struggling these days. :(
I'm convinced that it needs more RAM (it has 256 Mb), but it seems that this type of RAM is not widely supported anymore (PC1066, 533mHz FSB) :( and suppliers I have found want a fortune for it. :spitfire
It seems that most available is Samsung (MR16R1628DF0-CT9 (1066-32p).
Does anyone happen to know a supplier where I can purchase this type of memory at a reasonable price?
Cheers.

RAMbus memory is Hen's teeth, mainly becasue compatibility was an issue between manufacturers, so much so that while it is available many won't sell it - I got some with compatibility guarantees from Maplin, sadly in comparison to modern RAM it was no bargain. :(

I've bought 256mb off flea bay - works out just over 45 quid delivered. I'm not sure if this is good or not but, from one dealer, it was around 175 quid for 512mb.

You can go out and buy a really nice desktop for under £400 now...don't waste your money upgrading a wheezy old machine, just replace it :)

I know, I know - and I have done that to run most of my applications, but the old girl has a lot of 'stuff' on it that I can't be bothered to sift through and determine if I need.

And here in South Africa, PC's are more expensive.

I'm really going to keep the old girl to run Skype and E-Mail (ADSL is the only 'broadband' here - and it's not very quick)

I hear what you say, and you're right - but
