I want to treat myself after Christmas to a range of Torx sockets, so some questions.

1. What are the required sizes for the GS1200. I dont do major engine rebuilds but want to tinker with handlebars etc.

2. Do I need both male and female.

3. I have a 1/2" torque wrench so should I look for 1/2" sockets or will a smaller drive do the job (plus size adaptor).

Will probably go to Halfords unless you know better.

Bumpy, I'd concider buying sockets for the larger sizes but I find it's more convenient to use an allen type torx wrench for the smaller sizes.
I've not found a use for a T27 yet.
You'll need a torque wrench that goes up to 44lbs (60Nm) if you want to remove/replace the rear wheel (on a 1200GS). Buy a T50 for the rear wheel bolts & only buy a T55 if you plan on frame work i.e. fitting crash bars.

Halfords do some decent sockets/keys. :thumb2

I 'aint found any fastener I can't remove yet with....

Still need tips on where to buy, and if its important to consider a torque wrench?

Depends if it's going in the tool-roll or not.
I use a mini-ratchet in there, as it all still manages to fit under the seat that way...

As far as purchasing locations, I just did a mix-n-match purchasing job and bought them all off the Draper website. Probably could have got them cheaper if I'd fought for it, but *shrug*
