Since I'd called Steve at the Rannoch Station Tea-Room and established that they were indeed open for business, it would have been rude not to go up.
Monsieur Arcboutant and I had a ramble through the wee roads in Perthshire up there. It was a pain in the wind today at times and the temperature was going between 6C and 14C but all was well at the destination.

They've had ongoing problems with the quality of the water supply in order to run as a business. Decent menu and the soup portions were ample.
Not only can you get fed and peruse the books there, but you could entertain the folks on a keyboard at the window!
The view across the tracks.

When a northbound train drew in and a few folk got off for a quick smoke before heading off again it was mentioned that those regular travellers were happy to see the place open again.

Still plenty snow on the distant hills and a blustery day today.IMG_5744.jpg

Those tool box brackets appear to be hanging on in there :augie :augie.

(BAH! I'm stuck getting daughter's new house sorted and decorated instead of getting out on the bikes. I MUST take the 100GS to Kinlochleven on 3rd & 4th May :rob).

Bob.

I mentioned the steam loco stuff to Arc. I know twins who both are licenced steam drivers at Bo'Ness. It'd be a great view if they can get the Union of South Africa loco up there from Thornton Shed.
What were we like though - life on the edge eh? Nae topboxes or panniers!

She was out on Sunday on a run over the Forth Bridge. I heard the steam whistle in Kirkcaldy on Sunday afternoon and thought it was probably Sir Nigel Gresley.

The photo with the hut.

What other station in the uk has such a view?

In that case...Leuchars 1800-1823 today

Thanks - I might even take a wee bimble along there.

There's a long line of engine drivers in my maternal grandmother's side of the family. My great uncle Tom used to drive the Royal Scot out of Carlisle. He once derailed it by speeding around a curve. They put him on shunting in Carlisle yard for 6 months as a punishment.

Haha... He's ayeways on the wrong side o' the tracks...

Some of us had to work but spotted the machine heading into Leuchars as it crossed the bridge at St.Michaels.
Did y'all see the French doing a bit of tight turning approaches into Leuchars in their Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye aircraft?
Apparently the Yanks nickname the aircraft 'Super Fudd'. Aye. Well...

Great photos

Hi, great photos. Love the picture of the bikes. Would love to know where the seats on the bikes are from. Cheers.
