RAPIDSHARE . .

. . I have fallen victim to the RAPIDSHARE destruct. Linux Ubuntu has been wiped out. Windows remains O.K. The Email purported to come from a known co-respondent in London and gave access to a maintenance manual for R 80 GS.

Any recommendations as to resolution wwould be appreciated.

Zero sympathy for downloading ripped off software onto a machine with no protection. I bet you were logged into Ubuntu as root as well...

Just put it down to one of life's experiences and get the install CD out.

i've never heard of any problem with Rapidshare either*


is it rapidshare or what you've downloaded that's caused the problem?


*er, just remembered i got my login phished and account hijacked, but it was sorted.

So Linux is becoming vulnerable to the inadequates who louse up other peoples computers. Where would I go for a free firewall and virus scanner for Ubuntu? ( I have both for Windows). Also, where do I go for the free software that Linux devotees claim is available?
