Well, fresh from the stupidity of last year and seemingly having forgotten the pain, Big John and myself are [planning to have another go at the 1000 mile in 24 hours. Last year we completed the run in just over 22 hours and learnt some valuable lessons. Sadly "never do this again" wasn't one of them

If you fancy doing it, then get on http://rblr1000.co.uk/index.php?page=the-routes this will show the routes. Not for some, one of the greatest parts of the whole event was the camaraderie of the other riders, every garage you stopped at there would be someone else doing the event.
My method for last year was, when you stopped to fuel the bike, fuel yourself and If you're tired stop for a rest. Not completing the run isn't failure but the feeling of satisfaction when finishing is priceless.
As if doing it for the second time wasn't enough we have a cunning plan to extend it, we will announce this when we have sobered up enough to confirm the plan!! I will use Just Giving to raise sponsorship, all money raised goes to the Poppy appeal. We cover all our own petrol, accommodation at the start and finish and other running costs ourselves so you know your money will go where it matters most. Last year I spent near on £150.00 on petrol alone so it would be good to raise more than that again next year.
If anyone wants to sponsor me and donate a sum to the charity I will happily ride around in your "colours" or with any advertising you want me to carry! If a dealer, or third party using BMW parts, out there wants to promote their mechanical ability by servicing my bike I wouldn't be offended!!! I ride a GSA with panniers so would happily have all surfaces vinyl wrapped if anyone fancies a mobile bill board!
