How did you find N-CW my logic was get the long stretch up to Fort William out the way first, the return leg on the A1 should be quiet.
At least that’s the plan.

The long drag up the M6/M74 is just that, a long drag, but on the bright side the motorway will be really quiet given the time in the morning you go through it. Don't however under estimate how much the temperature drops when you go over the high bits of the M62 and M6. That came as a bit of a shock. What wasn't so good was the A82 through Glen Coe and on to Fort William. The road was simply heaving with coaches, motorhomes and Saturday morning traffic. The stretch to Fort William was even more annoying because of all double white lines. BUT, it's a holiday area, in high season and there's sod all you can do about that. Hopefully you'll have a quieter run through.
A1 South, yes also very quiet and with plenty of overtaking places. I got to Berwick just as it was going dark and I'd buddied up with three others enroute so we rode the last leg in convey. A couple of dangers though. Watch out for speed cameras on the A1, it'll be dark, you're going to be tired and the desire to press on will be strong. And on that note, make sure you do stop. The smell of Squires will lure you along when you really should take a break. I did a crib sheet of the mileage, timings etc. Message me if you'd like a copy.
Thank you, good advise , I’ll bear the A1 speed cameras in mind. Don’t really fancy getting a load of speeding tickets post event. I’ll look out for you on Friday and Sat morning, I’ll come and say hello.
