Well, the RC8 has had it's launch to the press.

It seemed to be universally praised.

A few negatives such as gear box a bit notchy and Fat Berks mag reckoned it was only making 120 bhp on the dyno.

But other mags reckoned 140+ and a Norwegian dealer has dynoed their demo bike and got 150 bhp exactly.

The current issue of Bike has these quotes:

On the front cover-Fast like a Ducati, comfy like a BMW

And in the 8 page article itself :

You can adjust the seat height and the bars, the clocks tell you absolutely everything and the engine is a peach-it's an astounding road bike.

Fast,sharp,comfy,ingenious-the RC8 is not just the first Austrian superbike,it's also the greatest V-twin ever built

At the time of writing,KTM UK had 150 orders for the RC8 before anyone had ridden it,with dealer stock request out-stripping this year's allocation of 350 bikes. It may be £1400 more than a Fireblade, but it's almost £600 less than a 1098,and a better bike. They'll have no problem selling as many as they can make.

I've ridden the local demo bike and I'm chuffed that I trusted my instincts and ordered one when I did.Mine should be here in the next month.

But I took the demo out yesterday :

Very comfortable on a 90 min stint.Lovely engine,unbelievable handling.

The bike comes delivered in 'Road' mode with the seat and pegs on the low setting :

The clip-ons,levers,and gear/brake levers are all adjustable so it really is very simple to tailor the riding position and feel to the individual rider.

Some naughty person seems to have exceeded the local speed limit :

The clocks are very clever, with so much info on display and with a 'Road' and 'Race' mode which give totally different displays.

Role on the summer !!!

That is one great 'bike.......Different, in a 'Good Different' way......:thumb2

Even at '£1,400 more than a 'Blade'.......Seriously, would anyone really prefer a Fireblade, over an RC8 ??......:nenau

Brilliant 'bike Arsey8.....You are one lucky lucky man........Enjoy.......:)

I found my wife drooling over the RC8 in the new issue of BIKe , so it must be a good bike. Discerning woman my wife - she married me after all. :)

orange or white

many happy miles together:thumb

Couldn't decide but finally stuck with orange, which was my initial choice.

I do like the white, but every single bike in 2008 seems to have a white option, and it is a KTM after all !!

Beautiful bike. I think it looks superb in either colour too. I've got to say, that's the one bike that would tempt me back towards a sportsbike. Look at that dash, it's crazy, but in a good way!

I hope you'll post a full on report when you get yours, you lucky bugger :D

The thing is,it really is very comfortable and adjustable.

You certainly don't get any wrist or neck ache like you do on all the others such as Blades/ZX10s/R1s etc.

Only the BMW HP2 Sports seems to be as accomodating, but it costs £4000 more.

I'm planning on taking the RC to the Le Mans MotoGP in May and then the Millau Bridge/Tarn Gorge in June so will report back once my bike is run in and has stretched it's legs properly off island.

Simply superb, fantastic stand out styling which is far better than the Japanese flagship sportsbikes which all look as if they came out of the same mould to me. I like the adjustability - ingenious yet so simple:thumb Enjoy!

Fantastic! :thumb2

Finally there's a bike manufacturer who has the brains to put decent ergonomics into a sports package.

:D

Cracking looking machine. Was giving one a good look over when I was in my local KTM dealership last week. I'm going to avoid taking it out on test:)

Oh shit, it's as I feared - she's just confirmed that she wants one. I've tried to fob her off with the Hornet that I've just advertised for sale. I tried to call her bluff by suggesting that she goes through to the KTM dealer in Glasgow to try one.

The reply....."I might well do that".

Here was me thinking I was just about to get a new Audi, as well......:(

Careful, she bites.....:augie

Tell her she can't have one as KTM won't sell their bikes to girls !

No, no....you don't understand, that would be a red rag to a bull. I'd be better telling her that they're going to be doing one in pink just for "girlies".

In fact......YES! This worked....."That's it, spoil it for me, quoth she...."
