Three of my mates have 950SM's and one has a 990 ADV so I'm duelling with them frequently (my 1200GS is more than a match for them on the twisties...apart from the lack of ground clearence on the GS)
KTMs are a bit rarer (one could say more exclusive ?) , GSs are getting a bit too common.............how different would it have been if....................... still it looks like i'll be keeping my 1150 for a while longer

Hey, I’m on my 2nd 1200GS now, all having done 20k miles plus (as I usually trade in for new every two years) with only a few minor electrical niggles.
As for my mates KTM’s: all 4 have had new starter clutches after 5-6k miles and 2 of the 950SM’s have suffered with oil leaks and warped front brake disks.
Mind you, I do think the RC8 will a be force to recon with on the road or track.
Hey Yonkyo,do your friends on the 990's know its ok to use the top three gears when they are duelling with you on the GS
Spoke to a guy last Sept who was in the lucky position of having a GS12 Adv and a 990Adv "s".
He has been to Africa on both bikes (not tegether!!) and never had to put a spanner on the KTM once but has had numerous problems with the GS inncluding a complete back driveshaft assembly
I bet now that i have said that my 990 will probably spew er internals up
Anyway both cracking bikes but one is just a little bit better than the other You can decide which one for yourself. (ok,ok,its the KTM)
