Hi there,

I've just picked up couple of panniers for my R1200 GS and was wondering if anyone knew of any helpful dealers who will re-code the locks gratis around S London or westwards towards Yeovil? If not how much am I looking at?

Cheers

Tom.

Cheers, having read that there could be springs and tumblers all over the place after I've applied my delicate touch!

It's not that hard.
You will need the key in the lock to take it out the case. With your fingers over the tumblers, either side of the lock take the key out, and fit the new key in.
Just look at which tumbers are not inline with the side of the lock, and those are the ones to be moved/replaced.
It takes about 10 mins in total, the springs are not mega strong and will not fire the tumblers out into next doors garden.
Just do it in a quiet room with no one to disturb you.

Coincidentally I was talking to my dealer here in the NE of USA about this issue today and was told that some of the newer models of sidecases are nearly impossible to rekey.

I was dumbfounded and still have a hard time believing it.

I mention this only in case someone else out there experiences the issue.

Good luck with yours, it should be a very easy thing to do.

I'm pleased to say all is done. Despite not having the same tumblers as those in my Top Box which was done by a dealer, with a bit of trial and error we are away. Incidentally Vines of Guildford rang me quoted me around 20 quid for the job, oh well better luck next time!
Cheers guys.

One final one, any top tips on adjusting the bolt onto which the panniers lock, or is it just trial and error?
