My pal is undertaking this task. It looks to have suffered little on the face of it.

The bike has done just 4800mls.

Fuel tank full of jellified petrol and rust, fork seals gone.

Any experience? Pointers?

I'd be replacing lots of things-

filters - oil, fuel, air
Fuel hoses
Cables
Battery
All Oils.
All brake fulid. If it comes out junk then strip the cyclinders and clean manually!

Dissasseble and clean switch gear.

That should get you something that you won't die on nor cause damage to as you use it?

----

Get bike running ... replace oil and oil filter at 1,000 miles - give it a flush. Check coolant too - if that even looks funny - replace.

Everything in the tank, US..!

All the metal & rubber bits disintergrated.

In that case, aren't any seals depending on 'o' rings anywhere else in the bike going to be shot as well??? :(

Possibly, the tank was a constantly wet environment, with a mixture of fuel and water.

Oddly enough the bike did not look that bad on first inspection.

one fork slider, both fork seals popped when we moved it.

The brakes should clean up.

I just hope the really expensive electrical lumps are OK....!

:idea

Start-up later today, maybe.....?
